Good Morning, Lord!

Good Morning, Lord!

I captured this photo at Epiphany Ranch here in East Texas. Buddy (the family’s 85-pound Australian Shepherd) has been my constant and faithful companion while I’ve been here – just like the days in Frisco when I would care for him and his 5-pound Yorkie sister when the family was away.

I’ve been here a few days to help get Larry and Staci into their new home on Miracle Mountain and all set for plenty of miracles. It has been an endeavor of patience and endurance, combined with lots of prayers and hard work. But, oh so worth it. Heaven on earth!

Since my hours aren’t the norm (bed by 9 or 10 pm and up at 4 am), I chose to stay in what was their home for the last year, their beautiful RV. It’s a cozy castle on wheels that Buddy and I made our own while I’ve been here helping them. Buddy and I had an early morning walk when I captured this sunrise at 6:30 am. And, at 7:30 am, we were down at the lake watching the fish feeder do its job by shooting out feed to the 18,000 little fish they stocked in the lake. There will be lots of fishing in this lake once the bass are added and grow up a bit. Great expectations!

We started our walk when day was just breaking, and the dark had to bow to THE LIGHT. What a sweet way to behold God and His goodness. When we say, “Good Morning, Lord!” He replies with a gorgeous sunrise.

During our walk, it seemed “light” was my focus. God’s Light. When His Light comes into our lives — into our situations and our thoughts — darkness is dispelled. When God said, “Let there be LIGHT”, He, the Master Creator created sun and moon and stars and daytime. And when He says “Let there be LIGHT” in our lives, He creates and brings joy and peace and a bright new day.

Once this beautiful day began, I sensed God made it just for me to relish in all that is taking place here – land transformations, home creations, and what was once a dry place on the property is now a 7-acre lake. What was once tangled up, sickly trees are cleaned up and are now flourishing, budding trees stretching their limbs heavenward. Those words about the property pale in comparison to the life transformations that are taking place here. I look forward to sharing many of those “darkness to light” stories very soon.

As Buddy and I made our way over to the home on Miracle Mountain for breakfast and a full day of more home decorating, unpacking and setting up, I thought about this scripture: “The Lord is my LIGHT and my salvation; whom should I fear? The Lord is my life’s refuge; of whom should I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1) Another blog is up and coming about how He was Larry’s refuge on Saturday!

In a couple of weeks, we’ll be immersed in the thoughts about Jesus’ final days as an earthbound servant leader, healer, and transformer of broken lives. We’ll consider His final steps toward the cross, His final words, and await His final victory. I really don’t like thinking about His suffering, but when I do, I know that everything about His suffering is still colored by victory. The Psalmist’s words: “The Lord is my LIGHT and my salvation” is not just wishful thinking. It is the bedrock of our lives. He is the Victor. Period. He triumphed. And so can you and I.

In the meantime, wherever we are – in a busy metropolitan city like Austin that is my home base and my sweet spot and place of refuge or smack dab in the middle of the big skies, country-living where an eagle flies over the lake and hangs out on this property – we can rest in knowing each day can be a “Good Morning, Lord!” day. He lights our way with His life, His love, and His LIGHT!
