Have a Blessed Day!

Have a Blessed Day!

“Have a good one!” “Have a great day!” Those are parting words from upbeat, positive, and intentionally optimistic people. Some folks are so caught up in their own world, expressing upbeat wishes to others doesn’t cross their minds. They’re all about their own agenda and trudging through their own day.

If you’re one of my daily readers, thank you! I know you’re purposing to be sunshine on cloudy days for others. So, I expect you are one of those who bring light and life to others. You probably even sweeten your good-byes with a word of enthusiasm to those you leave behind. You are probably one who takes it to a HIGHER level with a smile, looking straight into their eyes and boldly proclaiming: “Have a blessed day!” And you mean it. Not because you feel superior because you’re a Christian, but because you really are “praying with those words” for that person to have a blessed day. And by blessing, I mean…”Have a day filled with joy and happiness and void of hardships.” And, when we’re outward-bound, intentional “light” sprinklers – we even might offer that someone a compliment or words of encouragement.

In general, to tell someone to have a blessed day is saying we hope they experience favor in every area of their life. Those Jesus identified as “blessed” are those who, despite their circumstances, experience joy and contentment. To be a blessed person has little to do with what happens around us, and everything to do with what happens within us. It is a matter of the heart and of attitude. How could anyone who doesn’t even believe in God, have a problem with hearing “Have a blessed day!”?

There is a difference between being blessed and receiving blessings. If we have received blessings, we will only be truly blessed as we pass those blessings on to others. The blessed person understands the purpose of God’s blessings is not to make us feel better, but to make us live better. As someone once said, “It is not about what comes to us, but what comes through us that really counts.”

ANY day is a blessed day when we are mindful that where we are and whatever we’re doing, He Who holds our yesterdays, todays and tomorrows is with us. He is for us. He sustains us, provides for us, equips us, and fills us with His peace, comfort, and joy in our EVERY day! I will not count my problems; I will count my blessings. I’m breathing. I’m moving. I’m alive.

Now, go out there and have a good, great, wonderful, awesome, fantastic, BLESSED day! After all, God made this day for us and He is smack dab in the middle of it so we might as well jump wholeheartedly into this day and make it the BEST one EVER for ourselves, our families and for those we get to say “Have a blessed day” to!

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new EVERY morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
