He is Here — Right Now!
It’s hard to comprehend that we are a full-fledged “blood sibling” with Jesus Christ, our big Brother. Fully God. Fully Man. We are one with Him. We belong to Him. He lives in me. He lives in you!
Please don’t skip through this blog quickly today. I know that many of my readers simply scan the words and move on. That’s what we have done for most of our lives. We’ve heard words, but we haven’t embraced them or taken hold of the truth of who we are in the Family of God. But, PLEASE, don’t just scan today! I have truths that just might be a game-changer for you!
God loved us long before we knew our name. He loved us before we did anything right or anything wrong. And….Best. News. Ever. He guides and directs us, heals us, crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies.
We read those words and we think of them as from the author of a fairy tale. But, please hear me out. God is right here with you and me right now. I know it is beautiful to go to church and settle into a seat or pew and imagine we are in the holy presence of God. I don’t minimize the sacredness and holiness of being in the Father’s House of Worship.
But, wherever we are — at home, in our car, caring for the children or in the boardroom of our business — God is there. Even when we are in a crowd or a peaceful pasture, God is there.
Jesus is right here — right now! He’s closer than our breath. He is the Shepherd chasing after us when our minds try to run away in fear and trembling. He is picking us up, holding us close, and whispering, “I’m right here.”
No matter what is happening all around us, no matter our state in life, no matter how much our anxiety rises — God promises this truth in His Word.
“Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
“Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
“….nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39
Even when it’s hard. Even when it seems impossible. Even when Truth seems untrue, choose to believe it. Choose to exhale the anxieties and fears and unknowings and inhale the Shepherd’s presence Who is holding you. Let yourself relax into His strong and steady hands. Allow yourself to breathe Him in.
Now, doesn’t that feel better? Just knowing we are not alone in this season of life, in the ups and downs, in the storms and in the sunshine…..He is here!
He will not leave us nor forsake us. Ever. That’s His promise.
