I Thank God for You
My Staci and Larry gave me cowboy boots for my birthday! Perfect timing, because for months, Carl and I had planned to attend U.S. Congressman Roger Williams Evening at the Stockyards in Ft. Worth, TX on my birthday.
Congressman Williams is the Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Small Business. It was a wonderful birthday gift for us both to be among supportive and optimistic people at the event. After hearing him respond to many questions by the emcee, I am encouraged with the blessings of God on our Country.
It may look bleak when we hear reports from the news media, but God is still in control. A great band played music that we could sing along to, the BBQ meal was outstanding, but most of all, we saw God in the middle of the festivities – the prayers, the patriotic songs we sang, the allegiances to our flags, Congressman Williams’ confidence in God and sitting with beautiful people who are God-followers, too!
But, today, I want to express my love and encouragement to you, my dear wonderful blog friends, and family. You all are the blessings of God in my life, and I am so grateful. I thought, “What would this milestone birthday have looked like if no one had celebrated me?” I choose to believe that my deep faith and absolute certainty of God’s call on my life and my determination to live life with gusto means overcoming the mindset of loneliness or self-pity.
Paul the Apostle wrote other words that I share with you today. “I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” Ephesians 1:16. In this season of life, I have found that the rarest and most valuable treasures of life are those who we do life with. We have choices with who we hang out with, and God has made it so easy to choose the cream of the crop.
I am blessed with the gifts of friendship that far exceed silver and gold. All of you who follow my blogs, who are way more than casual acquaintances and are the most treasured possessions I have. I thank God for each of you who made me feel like a queen on my birthday!
“I thank my God every time I remember you.” Philippians 1:3
To all my family and friends…..thank you for humoring me, tolerating me, encouraging me, celebrating me, but most of all….for loving me. I’m smart enough to know, that God uses you to brighten my day and life. His mercies come to me via YOU and I’m so very grateful.
I am blessed — far more than I deserve, but God’s grace exceeds what any of us deserve. It is the unmerited favor of God that blankets us in what we need when we need it. Becoming a year older has its rewards…..and God and all of you, along with my family have rewarded me remarkably.
God bless you all for taking the time to make this “ole’ girl” feel so loved. It just makes me want to keep on keeping on to my Finish Line and look forward to what my next years will be like!
