I’ll Go Where You Go
Like the show “Wheel of Fortune” where the wheel turns round and round, that is me! Someone said that about me: “Round and round SHE goes, and where she stops nobody knows!” And they were right! I hit the road from Austin TX to Frisco TX last Friday, a week ago. From Frisco to Tulsa, OK. From Tulsa to Rusk, TX. Many of my friends and family ask me “Where are you now, Donna?”
I really am on the go. I don’t mind it at all. In fact, taking to the road is one of my loves. Though I’m going from here to there and there, you can count on one thing, I am endeavoring to follow God’s lead — where He goes, I want to go.
While in Frisco, I was honored to be the speaker for an all-day event where I gave four talks. I was with a beautiful group of women preparing for a Fall Retreat where they’ll be giving their hearts and souls in leading many more women in a deeper encounter with Christ Jesus. I’m so thankful “my wheel” landed there! Thank you, Lord, for divine connections that also meant sweet times with my cousin and a dear friend who live there. Lots of holy moments in Frisco.
Then on to Tulsa where I spent the last several days and nights keeping vigil and giving respite to my sis and bro-in-law in the care of my dear mother-in-law. They needed extra rest and the opportunity to get out and about, as well as spend time with their young granddaughter. Bonus, was spending time with my besties, who welcomed me into their home with “Let’s pray right now!”
What a shot of holy and blessed spiritual infusion I had from them.
Then I was able to spend time with my precious godson (our miracle baby who is now 18 and a strong, resilient, talented, and determined young man). What a joy it is to serve and love and be loved by those God placed into my life.
Yesterday, I arrived in Rusk, TX where my daughter, her husband, and daughter, plus precious women whose lives have been transformed by God’s mighty power, live on 62 gorgeous acres. I’ll speak more to this stop-over soon.
The point I’m making today is the cherished holy moments we can have when we serve. When we make room for following God’s lead, He supersizes the blessings. Thanks, Chris Tomlin for his “I Will Follow” song that says how I feel!
“Where you go, I’ll go; Where you stay, I’ll stay.
When you move, I’ll move; I will follow you.
Who you love, I’ll love; How you serve I’ll serve.
If this life I lose, I will follow you.
Those are bold claims, aren’t they? When I hear those words, I wonder if I am just speaking with bravado the way the Apostle Peter did in his early days of following Jesus? After all, he was the impulsive one who was always making those sorts of big, bold statements. He said to Jesus: “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” But when Jesus was arrested, those claims fell apart. Peter ran and hid and even renounced Jesus.
Thankfully, in time, Peter responded by embracing what it meant to truly follow – even to willingly die for Christ.
Isn’t that the desire of our hearts — to follow Him to the nth degree — laying down our agendas and faithfully show up to go or stay, move, love, and serve as He did? And that’s my heart — to go, be and do as my Leader does!
