I’m a Head Banger

I’m a Head Banger

That’s how I felt the first night I spent at my bro-and-sis-in-law’s home. I was their first-ever overnight guest in their home except for their granddaughters. The room was always just for them, with the giant doll house, castle, stuff animals and a closet full of toys and legos. I was honored to share this elite room. Fortunately, it had a cozy bed made ready just for me.

I shut the light out and crawled into bed expecting to hit my head on the pillows that awaited me, but KABOOM – my forehead hit the top of the headboard instead. The photo you see here is six days after the fact. You should have seen it after the first day! Yikes! The pain subsided but the bruise didn’t!

Yesterday, back in Austin, I picked up my grandson after school and he noticed the bruise right away. Rather concerned, he asked “What happened?” And I told him. He followed up with: “Nana, we’ve got to get you to a doctor for x-rays!” I went on to tell him I was just fine – it only looked bad. That’s when I missed the turn on the street we were supposed to turn down and he declared: “Nana, we’ve got to get you to the doctor!” I wasn’t concerned because I’d missed that turn long before my head-banger experience.

Bryson’s concern caused me to reconsider my head. I started thinking: “What if I have a brain bleed? Maybe I should have seen a doctor!” See how that enemy prankster started to play his gnarly tricks on me! I’m not anti-medical care, but I do have credentials that say who I am.

I have many friends who are medical professionals. They have credentials and titles. They earned them after years of hard work, intense training, and much effort! Along with those credentials comes respect, plus enormous responsibility to medical ethics. Their new titles and credentials will forever be a part of their life story.

I don’t have a initials at the end of my name, but I DO have credentials, and if you are a child of God and earnestly follow Jesus….so do you. I remind the enemy of mine and they can be your credentials, too!

Donna Wuerch, HAW – Healed and Whole
“I will restore your health, and I will heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 30:17

Donna Wuerch, COG — Child of God
“All of you are God’s children because of your faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26

Donna Wuerch, NC – New Creation
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” II Corinthians 5:17

Donna Wuerch, AC — Ambassador for Christ
“I am an ambassador for Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:20

Donna Wuerch, FD – Forgiven Daughter
“For this is My blood that establishes the covenant; it is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:28

Donna Wuerch, WDF – Worth Dying For
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Donna Wuerch, FB — Fruit Bearer“
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in Him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

No exams are required for these credentials. They are God-given and don’t belong to us because of who we are, but rather because of to Whom we belong. We have a tremendous responsibility as representatives of Jesus Christ to exemplify Him in our attitudes, our character, and in our love for others.

This head-banger will purpose to be more careful as I hand out my business cards with my God-given credentials on them. How about you?
