It’s a “Come As You Are Party”!
Back in “my day”, we had “Come as You Are” parties. We’d get a phone call from a friend and whatever we were wearing at that moment, was what we had to wear to the party. Friends would show up in their jammies and slippers or work-out clothes, or because it was a date night, they’d come dressed to the nines. The honor system was honored, and people wore what they were caught in.
But, one of these days…..we will have a “Come as You Are” moment when our race on this earth is done and it will take our final breath. With our world in such disarray because of the enemy’s tactics to create chaos, hatred, confusion, and death, we need to be dressed in our best (spiritually speaking), to be ready to go at any moment, as sudden as a phone call or as quick as the flash of a camera.
As awful as the pandemic has been and as heart-wrenching as the loss of lives because of the war in the Ukraine, the truth is we all have a terminal disease. It’s a terminal disease because we’re under the sentence of death. All of us are going to die someday. But more important than physical death is a spiritual death if are apart from God.
Spiritual death means that we are separated from God forever. The Bible calls that hell. “The wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ.” (Romans 6:23).
The best news ever. Jesus paid the price for our terminal disease so that we don’t have to die a spiritual death. Getting to go to heaven and having God’s peace in our hearts until then, is we go to Him: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9). That means we are sorry for our sins (our mistakes) and are willing to turn from them.
That means we have faith and we believe. The Bible says: “Without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that comes to God must believe that He is” (Hebrews 11:6).
What does ‘being saved and God forgives us” mean? If we were a computer, it would mean all our files have been deleted. God deletes all our files. They are totally erased. And we are welcomed into the Family of God. “Old things passed away and all things become new!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
If there’s a little voice speaking inside of you telling you to “COME”, it is the Holy Spirit drawing you. Don’t resist Him.
This is a “Come as You Are” party invitation. I’m excited to throw this party to invite you to it. Come on into the Family of God! Please come today. Just pray this simple prayer and believe it with all your heart.
“Dear Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death. I choose now to turn from my sins and every part of my life that does not please you. I choose you. I give myself to you. I receive your forgiveness and ask you to take your rightful place in my life as my Savior and Lord. Fill me with your love and your life and help me to become a person who is truly loving—a person like you. Live in me. Love through me. Thank you, God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
