Let’s Be Blessing Machines
I read about Blessing Machines in a devotional. A Vicar of the Church of England, in his attempt to describe the Church and faithful people, spoke of God’s children as being Blessing Machines.
I love that! As Carl and I are diligently working on his estate sale, his daughter came over to help us in the garage. She was non-stop in her desire to get the task done. She even called and paid for a junk removal company to pick up items NOW! I said to her, “You are a machine!” She was relentless. Like a machine, she produced and over-produced.
For us to be Blessing Machines, it is to produce and over-produce all that is good, lovely, and kind. It is more like experiencing in a totally new way, the joy of blessing others with more blessings than is necessary – like Carl’s daughter did for us!
Of course God is the ultimate blessing machine. Psalm 115:12 says: “The Lord remembers us and will bless us…” God is the source of all blessing. It is His blessing in our lives that enables us to make the difference in the lives of others.
God loves to bless. The appropriate response to His blessings are from Ephesians 1:3 “Lord, I can never praise you enough – you have blessed me in Christ with every spiritual blessing.”
How can we make a difference to the lives of those around us? As ‘children of God’, don’t we want to be like our Father, Who loves to bless?
“Give and it shall be given…” Luke 6:38. That’s where blessings start — when we are Blessing Machines and give instead of being the spoiled children who say: “Gimme this; gimme that!”
Our loving Father leads by example. “He giveth and giveth and giveth again.” Good old song:
His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men,
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.
Being a Blessing Machine is showing genuine interest, on purpose, in others. We have received so much — how could we NOT be givers? We shouldn’t hesitate in letting others know that we care about them, and that what matters to them matters to us.
We shouldn’t hesitate to ask people questions about their well being. Being a Blessing Machine means not looking the other way when someone is needy. It is reaching out and wrapping our hearts around them and expressing our sincere desire to see them through their difficult times.
I want to be a Blessing Machine. I know it starts with being in a tight relationship with God. We receive blessings from Him and in turn, as His children, we desire to impart those blessings to others.
I know that we can’t solve everyone’s problems, but nothing stops us from making a genuine effort towards being the Blessing Machines that we can be. In fact, nothing holds us back from being a blessing to another person with just a simple hug or a smile.
We are blessed if we walk with God. And if we walk with God, we will no doubt be a Blessing Machine to others.
