Mighty Big Storm. Mighty Great Storm Chaser.

Mighty Big Storm. Mighty Great Storm Chaser.

Most of my blogs come from my own personal life experiences. I sincerely hope that what I share will encourage and even open my readers’ eyes to our great Storm Chaser. I’ve learned some very difficult lessons the hard way, so my goal is to pass along the wisdom from those lessons to give shortcuts to our prayers being answered and our faith increased. Personally, I am calling on our Storm Chaser this morning.

I was doing some storm chasing in the night as I tossed and turned. Why do I do that? It is our human nature to think: “I can get this figured out if I’ll just keep tossing and turning.” And, it’s during those times of letting our mind run wild that seeking God for the answer is the last thing we do to escape our storms. But, I got up out of that bed and halted the “storm mindset” right then and there. I put a stop to that negative thinking and wondering if God is seeing my storms. I am speaking out: “Storms, you don’t hold a candle to how big my God is! Cease and be still, in Jesus’ name!”

The disciples passed their lessons learned onto us. We can learn a ton from their mistakes which came from their lack of faith. They knew Jesus was on land and they discounted that He was the unparalleled “Storm Chaser and Peace Maker”! They toiled and feared, (like my own tossing and turning) but Christ was praying on the shore for them. He saw the storm come up. HE SAW. He knew. (Mark 6:48) And He SEES and knows the storms we’re going through. They are no surprise to Him. In fact, they are part of His plans to build our faith and trust in Him more. He hears our prayers in the midst of our storms and He will carry us safely to the other side. (In my case — the other side of my bed and out of it!)

There is no difficulty in life that is stronger than Jesus. We can face our difficult times with courage because He promised to ALWAYS be with us! I love knowing that His peace is ours during our storms….and how reassuring to know that right behind this storm is a rainbow of blessing! He promised it. I’ve come to count on it! Since we know our circumstances are no surprise to Him, we might as well get a grip on Him and trust Him.

I remember my childhood fears and how I ran to my calm and peaceful mama. She proved through her comfort and assurance that all is well. And, when we, as God’s children are afraid and worried, if we would but run to the calm and peaceful nature of Jesus, we would find our storms to be still. As I type this blog this morning, I pray that this peaceful presence of Christ that is abiding in me right now is introducing the nature of Jesus to you and then you pass that peace on to others so that they know that peace found in Him, too! He is our Storm Chaser. When we abide in Him, His peace abides in us.

Dear Lord, I ask You to increase our faith. We learn more about You and Your love for us when the storms come. May our faith grow more and more when we experience the storms of life. May our confidence in You increase. As we grow in our faith, may we witness the calm and quiet nature of Your presence. May people be attracted to the peace and calm we have in any and every situation. As You boarded the disciples boat, we invite You into our “boat” today and ask You to take control. Amen.
