No MATTER What…..YOU Matter
We’ve had some crazy high winds in Austin lately. Those winds have been a deterrent to our pickleball balls landing where we want them to land on the court. Those intense winds also mean that beautiful Fall-colored leaves are having to give way to the pull. Maybe you see yourself as just another one of those leaves that has seen its best days and is falling, falling, falling to the earth — no longer feeling like you matter.
Where we have lots of leaves, Colorado has lots of snow (18”+ on many ski mountains). Maybe you feel like one of those snowflakes that no one really cares or notices you. With Thanksgiving coming and followed by “the most wonderful time of the year”, there are many who are already having the merriest and brightest highs. For many others, they dread them. It means they are alone. They can’t help but feel discouraged and forgotten. IIf you are reading this blog today, please know that God brought you here so that you HEAR how much you matter.
Regardless of what you’ve been told, your birth was no accident. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. In fact, He expected it. Long before you were conceived, you were conceived in the mind of God. He thought of you first. It is not luck or coincidence that you are breathing at this very moment. You are alive because God created you on purpose. You matter!
God prescribed every single detail of your body. He deliberately chose your race, the color of your skin, your hair, and every other feature. He custom-made your body just the way He wanted it. He also determined the natural talents you would possess and the uniqueness of your personality. The Bible says, “You know me inside and out. You know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.” (Psalm 139:15)
It doesn’t matter whether your parents were good, bad, or indifferent. God knew that those two individuals possessed the right genetic makeup to create the custom made “you”! They had the DNA God wanted to make you. The underlying truth is…WE matter – YOU matter!
PLEASE hear me. I believe this blog is heaven sent directly to YOU – whoever you are today. You MATTER! Maybe I can’t physically hug you and look into your eyes today, but I can be used by God to speak His loving words directly to you. You are beautiful and you are one of the sisters or brothers in this royal family of God.
I love this old chorus by Bill & Gloria Gaither: “I am loved. You are loved. I can risk loving you. For the one Who knows me best, loves me most. I am loved. You are loved. Won’t you please take my hand. We are free to love each other. We are loved.”
You matter so much to me that I write a blog every day in hopes that it will encourage and bless you. God matters to me so much that I obeyed Him eleven years ago when I asked Him (after my husband graduated to heaven), “What do I do with my life now?” And I sensed Him saying: “You matter and I want you to tell others they matter, too! Be my spokesperson.”
In this moment, in this place, regardless of your last name, your status on the team, the amount of your paycheck, whether you live in a palace or a cardboard box, YOU MATTER. This season is all about HOW MUCH WE MATTER. God sent His only Son to this earth to take on human flesh, to suffer, die and rise again so we could live FOREVER with Him. WE MATTER.
Please trust in His great LOVE for you. BELIEVE the story and know – YOU MATTER!! Now, get out of yourself and go out and tell others they matter too by your beautiful smile and your good words – whether spoken directly to them or with your inside voice praying to the ONE Who might use your prayer to change someone’s life today!
