Oh, Yes, My Dear – You ARE a Star

Oh, Yes, My Dear – You ARE a Star

I’m at Epiphany Ranch for a few days to help my children, Larry and Staci, settle into their sweet new home. I was busy working in the new kitchen while they were getting some things out of their storage unit. When they returned, Staci asked, “Did you see the sunset?” My reply: “I didn’t. I was too busy working!” Oh me! The sunset on these 60 acres is a sight to behold and I missed it.

And, if the sunset wasn’t enough, I didn’t even pay attention to the stars that show off in this big “God’s Sky Country”! You know the song “The stars at night are big and bright….deep in the heart of Texas!” And I didn’t even look up for them. I was too busy!

But, I didn’t miss the sky thriller LAST night! I took the sunset AND the stars-set in with awe and wonder. I agree with Blake Shelton in words from his song, “God’s Country”. “The devil went down to Georgia, but he didn’t stick around. This is God’s country.” And he didn’t stick around on Epiphany Ranch because I sense Him in the quiet of His holy ground on this piece of heaven land.

God was a vision caster to Abraham (the father of our faith). He pointed Abraham to the skies and said: “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” (Genesis 15:5) Abraham believed and “it was credited to him as righteousness.” (Genesis 15:6). And, he became the father of many nations and here we are today. Just look at us – we are one of those stars — the seeds of Abraham.

My dear, dear friends – know the prayers you’ve prayed – those gut-wrenching, heartfelt prayers for your children, grandchildren, and loved ones, are still on God’s heart too. Don’t give up! Don’t stop standing in your faith stance. Let your faith vision be one of prayers answered, children coming home, families reunited, and many joy-filled times of celebration! After all – that’s what STARS do – they brighten the sky with the wonders of God’s infinite love and grace.

God made the sun, the planets and those stars and He promised to one man in the Israeli desert that He would not leave Him childless. He is the One and the same God Who made these glorious star-spangled skies for us. He made you and me and He never tires of calling out to us, of sending signs, of going to great lengths to assure us that He is faithful to His promises to us.

I know many of my readers are looking up and counting those stars in the sky – maybe not in reality, but in your deep faith. It might feel like your circumstances are overpowering you like broad daylight hiding the stars. Instead of questioning God’s timing or doubting in His faithfulness, let’s be like Abraham and start counting!

As for me…..I sense God gently tapping me on my shoulder and whispering: “Martha….er’ Donna, too busy, is TOO busy! The better thing is to stop and enjoy My sunset and My stars! I put them there to remind you of my faithfulness to YOUR prayers. And, by the way, YOU are one of those stars.”
