One Day Heaven Next Day Heaven-on-Earth

One Day Heaven Next Day Heaven-on-Earth

Yesterday, my blog was about my Sweetheart’s debut into heaven, November 16, 2010. The day after, November 17th, there was much to be done in funeral preparation. But, sandwiched in between our “earth” to do list, was a heaven-on-earth mindset. Papa was basking in heavenly peace and our little Bryson James Wuerch had his 4th birthday.

And this sweet young man – turns sixteen today. He still represents heaven-on-earth to me. He’s the last grandchild, #6, so he has an extra special place in my heart. God put “icing on the cake” when he came along.

He lights up the room when he walks in. He’s hilarious — without trying, and we share a special love for each other. We have our own unique fist-bump handshake and hysterical after-school conversations when he does his best to shock me.

Our adventures have had no bounds — caring for his many animals, rock climbing and navigating caverns and terrain, fishing, seashell hunting at the beach and many other escapades.

I’m happy for him that this rite of passage means a car, a driver’s license, and no longer needing Nana to pick him up from school. Like with my own two children and the other grands, I’ll reckon with the change and celebrate the new joys that will come.

Today is his big day. He matters to us. We’ll have the “special plate” ready for him. He’ll enjoy the family birthday breakfast festivities. He gets to take the day off from school to get his driver’s license. Tonight, the whole crew will meet up for dinner. We’ll enjoy cake as we go around the table sharing why he is so special to us.

Aw! Celebration of Life! One who lives on in heaven, the other living large here. I’m thinking about the most important thing we can do for others is to celebrate them and help them to know THEY MATTER. Why does it matter? Because it matters to our Creator.

He specifically planned each of us individually and uniquely with the funny little quirky smile we might have, the color of our hair and eyes, and the freckles on our nose. God knows everything about us.

We are His hand-designed treasures. We are always on His mind. Shouldn’t we think about others in a way that God uses our arms to hug them and our mouths to tell them how special and beautiful they are? After all, we are all in this royal family of God.

I can’t explain it in mere words, but God sure can! Just take a look at how He masterfully and lovingly planned us and created us! We are ALL so special to Him. I hope these words convince you of that!

Psalm 139:2-4 “You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.”

Psalm 139:13-14 “You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.”

Psalm 139:16 “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”

Psalm 139:17 “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!”
