Rainbow in the Rain & the Drought
“There Shall Be Showers of Blessing” — an old song to write, sing and shout about!
There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.
Chorus:
Showers of blessing.
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy-drops round us are falling.
But, for the showers we plead!
I was seriously singing that old song last night. I just made it to my car after church and suddenly there were raindrops on my windshield. I thought I was seeing things. But then it continued, and I actually had to use my wipers! WHAT? Rain – after a drought and record-breaking scorching temperatures for the entire month of August. I even felt the coolness in the air. Oh, sweet Jesus! What a wonder you are!
And to top it off was this most perfect rainbow – God’s miraculous sign of blessing! That deserves stopping at Taco Bell for supreme soft tacos! Oh, yes, I did. My bill was $10.73. The cashier says “Would you like to round it up to $11.00 for charity. Oh yes, I did. I gave him my $11.00 and he promptly gave it back to me. He said “Our computer just went down. No charge! WHAT?
Lord, if you keep on blessing and blessing — if you keep on pouring it on, I don’t know what I’m going to do! That’s just how I felt. After a day of serving at the food pantry and thrift store, then going to church and receiving a beautiful message along with holy communion……how much sweeter could it get? And this, is after I heard my daughter singing the praises of what happened to them yesterday.
Staci was in confinement because she is meditating and seeking God for wisdom for their next Mastery Program starting in a week. But then her phone rang, and she heard “There’s a fire in our trees. She quickly called the fire department, and they were on their way, but almost immediately came pouring down rain. They haven’t had rain on their property since March. WHAT? The rain doused the fire out and, just in case you are thinking “That’s poco-loco”….the firemen showed up and witnessed it.
Don’t you tell me God doesn’t care! Don’t you tell me that showers of blessing – both in the natural and in spiritual can show up for those who live with their expectors expecting! I sincerely believe I witnessed miracles in the last two days.
And it is like the drought (pain) that was once a part of my life, but the downpour of healing, restoration, peace, joy and hope came. I am pain-free and soaking in gratitude and all those blessings of God.
I assure you God comes in the seasons of dryness, barrenness, and drought if we don’t murmur and complain and instead express gratitude during that season. In the dry seasons, our Father is working out things for our good. He’s a good, good Father who desires blessing His kids with innovative ideas, discernment, creativity, wisdom, and knowledge that can turn our drought season to downpour season.
We call on Him and He will open the windows of heaven to us. Deuteronomy 28:12 says “The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands.”
Let it rain, Lord, let it pour showers of blessing!
