She’s Getting a New Heart Today
You may remember a blog I wrote on May 4th this year. I shared about the valiant walk of faith that some of my dear Tulsa sisters-in-Christ were taking on behalf of another beloved sister-in-Christ, Becky Holder. Becky must have a heart transplant, but finding a match has been quite the wait. Literally, these resilient and determined, diehard women have been faithful to daily prayer times together for Becky.
These women are like the men who couldn’t get in the front door of the home to take their friend to Jesus for healing, but they were unstoppable — to the point of opening the roof of the home and letting him down to Jesus. (Luke 5:17-39) This is true friendship and sister-ship. I couldn’t be prouder of their deep faith for healing for Becky, who is a beautiful, devoted mother and wife, a Bible-believing, faith-filled and precious woman of God.
Becky has been in the hospital for months now awaiting a match for the heart transplant. From her hospital bed, she has missed many of her children’s significant events, but her faith has not been deterred — and neither has it been for these women. For the last two days I’ve blogged about not fearing and not worrying. Can we even imagine what this young mom has faced to keep believing?
Early on Becky shared: “I will never give up on a miracle. I know the Divine Physician is ultimately, and always in control, even when He is working through these excellent doctors. The Bible verse I’m holding onto with great faith is Mark 5:41, “He took the child by the hand and said to her, “Talitha Koum,” which means, “Little girl I say to you, Arise!” Jesus said, “Take up your Cross and follow me.” So that is what I am doing. In loving obedience to my Father, I will take up my little piece of the Cross and follow. He sees the big picture and is in control of every detail. The wood of the Cross is my source of strength.”
I am resurfacing this story today because we are calling ALL prayer warriors. The more prayers of agreement….the better! Yesterday she received the good news that we have been waiting for. bA donated heart became available and is a match for Becky! Today, Sunday, she is getting her new heart. Praise the Lord! The surgery is scheduled for 1 pm today so if you’re reading this, please stand in agreement with us for the surgery to be a complete success! Would you please take a moment to pray for Becky, the medical team, the donor, and the donor’s family?
I am again stirred by the word: “Arise”! Perhaps today – you are needing a transplant, too. Maybe not a physical heart transplant, but one that your spiritual heart needs. As Becky receives her new heart today, ask God to heal your heart from whatever has broken it, physically and spiritually. See yourself lying there, surrounded by loved ones, the ones yearning for you to wake up. Now, hear the one word that opens our hearts – day in and day out. The one word which breathes new life into us. The one word that will awaken Becky to live a full and long life with this new heart. I pray that God awakens you with the same word to your full and long life of God’s light and abundance to you.
Arise.
Be healed in Jesus’ name.
