Taking Back what the Enemy Steals
It is Sunday and arriving at home after church, my phone alerts me that my wallet is missing. I keep an AirTag on my wallet and luggage. It is an easy way to keep track of my stuff and Lord knows I need help with that! My AirTag is my radar for tracking down my personal items.
But, YIKES, I didn’t even realize my wallet was missing when the AirTag app showed that my wallet is near Sam’s Club gas center where I purchased gas the night before. We head to Sam’s gas station and ask about it, but no sign of my wallet, which, by the way, has all my credit cards, driver’s license, health cards, etc. in it.
Then the tracker shows us that the wallet is across the highway. We head there. By now, my imagination is telling me someone found the wallet, simply tore off the AirTag and is in a ditch somewhere. We walk and walk using my phone to lead us but nada!
We go to Sam’s Member Services and ask if a wallet has been found. Nada. I get back in the car and we start driving. Suddenly I notice my AirTag radar shows the tag is tracking with us. OMG! The wallet is in the car!!! I reach to the side of the driver’s seat and there is the wallet. Oh, happy day!
Oh, how the enemy plays us. Obviously the AirTag isn’t infallible. It led us to places not even close to the tag. An hours’ worth of wasted time. But was it? Not if I get a blog idea from it!
The enemy tries and often succeeds at stealing from us. For example, we wake up with great expectations for this day. But the car doesn’t start which makes the kids late for school and us late for work. That’s the trickster enemy trying to steal our joy.
Then there’s the argument we have with our spouse or child or friend. It isn’t a random disagreement. It is the enemy trying to steal our peace. Realizing it is the enemy is the first step in apprehending him before he gets away with it.
Jesus said, “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10). According to these words of Jesus, the thief is out to destroy everything good in our lives — our job, our faith, our happiness, our health, our finances, our marriage, and our kids. The thief wants to ruin anything he can get his hands on!
Imagine we’re given the opportunity to not only get back what was lost, but we even get back double for our trouble. We find that God wants to abundantly restore what we’ve lost. “Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners of hope! I promise this very day that I will restore twice as much to you.” Zechariah 9:12. Wow! That means all that wasted time looking for my wallet will be restored double-time!
Perhaps you are feeling deprived and taken advantage of by the enemy. Maybe you’ve lost something or someone valuable to you. I assure you; God wants you to live life in all its fullness and give you double for your trouble.
Get on the offense. Grab those things that the enemy is trying to steal from you or has stolen from you quickly! Grab hold of that scripture in Zechariah and reclaim what has been taken from you. Fight for what is yours with relentless, kamikaze determination!
