Tribute to Legacy

Tribute to Legacy

September 12, 2022 Off By Donna Wuerch Noble

A few days ago (September 8th), Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history, died at the age of ninety-six. Of course, this news has been center stage for the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.

I was taken when I saw this photo and when I read that shortly before her death was announced, a double rainbow broke through the clouds over the palace. It was as though the Lord of heaven and earth wanted us to know that the queen had made her way from earth to heaven.

Last month, the queen issued a statement to the bishops of the Anglican Church: “Throughout my life, the message and teachings of Christ have been my guide and in them I find hope. It is my heartfelt prayer that you will continue to be sustained by your faith in times of trial and encouraged by hope in times of despair.”

Now Queen Elizabeth II is in the presence of the One she trusted and served so faithfully.

Shortly after the Queen’s passing, her son, King Charles III, vowed as monarch to carry on his mother’s “lifelong service”. At 73, King Charles called her “an inspiration and example to me and to all my family.”

It is a new season for the United Kingdom and the family of Queen Elizabeth. Speaking of kings and royalty and seasons, King Solomon wrote these words in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8:

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones, a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.”

I share this with you from experience. I’ve experienced most all those seasons that King Solomon referred to, especially “a time to be born, and a time to die.”

Today marks the birthday of my precious husband. I enjoyed many seasons with him before his graduation day to heaven. There were times of weeping, and there were times of laughing. I laugh a lot these days. And I dance lot, most of which are in the confines of my home!

This man that I loved since I was twelve years old, was a “king” in my mind. His birth and his passing didn’t merit the accolades of royalty’s pomp and circumstance. But his life mattered to so many who he touched in so many ways.

September 12th — the day this beautiful, loving, compassionate and caring man, Ronald Jonathan David Wuerch, was born. To have known this man would have been an honor, but to have loved and been loved by him was the greatest joy and blessing that God could have ever given me.

I celebrate him today in the greatest way I can by carrying on his heart and passion for helping people and making a positive impact into their lives.

What an absolute tribute to his legacy are our son, Ryan, and daughter, Staci, carrying on his passion for people — changing and bettering lives and making a difference in this world.

Ron completed his earth assignment, and I have picked up where he left off. I have songs to sing, blogs to write, prayers to pray, lessons to learn, dances to dance and make the very most of THIS SEASON that God blesses me with each day.

What season are you in? Make it count for what matters most!
