Welcome to Fall, Ya’ll
Hooray! My favorite season begins today – the time when the heat waves subside and everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature has been saving up all year for the grand finale! Here’s to celebrating this first day of Fall with a heart full of gratitude.
It was as though God was announcing Fall yesterday when gentle rains came and lowered our Austin temperatures. Fall really is in the air! There is Fall décor showing up inside and outside of homes. I’m stoked about the cooler temperatures for brisk and refreshing morning walks. And, our pickleball games can be enjoyed without so much heat! I’m zoning into the upcoming sights, sounds and smiles that accompany the changes. More than anything, I want to be empowered by a heart of gratitude, charged up by expressions of joy. I choose thanksgiving!
As this new season begins, let’s purpose to be noticers — to notice the numerous reasons to be thankful; to notice when someone needs a positive word spoken to them and we answer the call! As noticers, we can be thankful we can breathe without devices to help us breathe. We can walk and those who can’t, can cheer on the walkers. We can hear the sounds around us – even though there is earth-moving equipment just behind us that we’re not so excited about – the fact is “We can hear!” We can hear dogs barking – and though they can often be irritating — still, we can be thankful we can hear! Did you see the gorgeous Full Harvest/Corn Moon yesterday? How wonder-full is that? We can see! Psalm 107:1 says “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
Yesterday, I was lavishing on this new season and the gratitude that accompanies it. That gratitude should include thanking God for the season He has us in – right now. Every day is a gift, and whether that day includes joy, happiness, peace, and comfort or whether it’s stress-filled and challenging, we know it’s a part of this season that God has us in — and in this season God is working ALL of the season for our good. Regardless of what season we are in, let’s savor everything that it holds — because THE ONE who controls the seasons, is THE ONE who will carry us through each one. So, let’s turn up the volume on gratitude. Wake up that heart of gratitude and let’s amp up our bodies, souls and spirits to the goodness of God, the blessings He’s given us and our todays and tomorrows that are in His hands. Happy Fall, Ya’ll!!!
