You Better Watch Out
You Better Watch Out
We’ll be hearing those words from “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” many times over the next few weeks.
You better watch out,
You better not cry,
Better not pout,
I’m telling you why:
Santa Claus is comin’ to town.
He’s making a list
And checking it twice,
Gonna find out
Who’s naughty and nice.
Santa Claus is comin’ to town.
He sees you when you’re sleepin’,
He knows when you’re awake,
he knows if you’ve been bad or good,
So be good for goodness sake.
When we were kids, we heard that song and believed it. And, when we had kids of our own, we heard that song and tried to convince our kids that they better be good kids so that Santa would come bringing his wares and our wants.
Now that we’re mature, we know better than to believe in a mystical, magical Santa Claus. And thank God, that He is the ONE we believe in, place our trust, hope, expectations in and YES, He is coming soon. That’s a promise that Santa can’t promise.
There is only ONE Who knows exactly what will happen tomorrow and for the rest of our lives. AND, if we have a tight relationship with Jesus, God guarantees our future. A future that is far more glorious than all the presents under our Christmas tree.
The Bible says, “Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance — an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.” (1 Peter 1:3-4)
Whoo-hoo! A priceless inheritance. Now, that’s what I call a gift beyond description. It is what we’re given because we belong to God’s family.
Santa isn’t a promise keeper. But God is. The blessings God promises are real. The Apostle Peter said OUR inheritance in heaven is pure and undefiled. That means our inheritance isn’t fake. It’s the real deal.
God has already written the final chapter of our lives. If we are believers, our reservation in heaven is rock solid and secure. We can trust that. And we can place our hope and expectation in that.
The Bible says we can only get to heaven by trusting in God through his Son, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
If you haven’t trusted in Jesus and committed to following Hm, why wait any longer? If you’re ready to decide to believe in Jesus Christ and follow Him, please pray this prayer:
“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in You, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven. I confess my mistakes (aka sins). I believe You are my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today I’m turning every part of my life to You! Jesus, I want to use the rest of my life to serve You. Thank You for accepting me into Your family. In your name I pray. Amen.”
If you just prayed to accept Jesus, please PM me and let me know about it. I promise I will meet you in heaven one day. In the meantime, let’s stay in touch on our journeys with Jesus.
