A Happy and Blessed New Year to You and Yours
I really mean it when I say: “Happy and Blessed New Year!” Oh that I were a wise prophet promising that 2022 is going to be a banner year of multiplied blessings for all. I’m not a prophet, but I assure you that God promised an abundant life to us (John 10:10), so we might as well get on the blessing train that is coming our way!
Yesterday, New Year’s Eve, we started the day with deep-sea fishing in the Sea of Cortez. Brennan hauled in a huge marlin and Bryson, a Mahi Mahi. Then last night was a fun, festive and hope-filled New Year’s Eve night. We laughed, celebrated, ate some really good food and danced the night….and 2021 away. Out with the old and in with the new as we hugged each other in anticipation of a new year of God’s best blessings coming our way.
A new year brings hopes and dreams of a new and improved life with good health, wealth and peace. I have a new journal and new calendar to document the blessings that I am expecting. We thought that 2020 was the most flip-the-script years ever, and then comes along 2021. 2021 was a doozey of a year for so many. Lord, have mercy! Who would have thought that going into 2022 we would still be dealing with the pandemic that we hoped would be way behind us by now. We wonder will anything change in 2022? I would like to state: “Never fear; God is here!” God engineered us to expect blessings and here are some NEW words that will surely help us navigate this new year.
~~ GOD MAKES US NEW: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become NEW.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
~~ GOD GIVES US NEW SONGS OF PRAISE. “He put a NEW song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” Psalm 40:3
~~ GOD MAKES NEW WAYS FOR US “I am doing a NEW thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19
~~ GOD’S MERCIES ARE NEW EVERY MORNING. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are NEW every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
The truth is whatever 2022 holds, I am expecting God’s grace, mercy, joy, and peace overtaking us in powerful ways because we are on the same winning side as our God. Whatever 2022 holds and what every minute, hour, day, or month holds, we can be assured of God’s faithfulness to us! We may not know what the future holds, but we know WHO holds our future and “Through our God, we shall do valiantly. It is HE Who will tread down our enemies.” (Psalm 60:12).
God was with us In 2020 and 2021 and He is still right here with us in each day’s ups and downs. As Emmanuel, God with us, we can count on His grace, His mercy, and His sufficiency. He will never leave us or forsake us. Let’s get our New Year game on and win this thing. How can we worry or fret in 2022 when we are on God’s winning side?
