A Taste of Eden at Flora Farms
Carl and I arrived in Cabo San Lucas on Tuesday, thanks to our incredibly thoughtful children. Carl’s daughter said, “We want you to enjoy yourselves on trips like this as long as you can.” And my son said, “Mom, stay at our place (a beautiful home that was built for them and their family — and, thanks be to God, that includes Carl and me – Yay!)

While we don’t quite see ourselves in our “twilight” years yet, we’re embracing their kindness — and the joy of experiencing another corner of God’s creation.
Yesterday, we visited Flora Farms, a place that feels and looks like a slice of Eden. Everything here is grown with care, using sustainable, organic methods. They layer compost instead of plowing, rotate crops for soil health, and use natural pest control — like chili pepper, herbs, and garlic, instead of harmful chemicals.

Even the animals are raised with dignity, given space to roam, scratch, and forage, just as God intended.
As we walked through rows of heirloom vegetables and fruits, inhaling the scent of fresh basil and citrus, I was reminded that God created this earth for us to tend and enjoy.
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1). Yet, how often do we rush past His creation, settling for food that’s processed beyond recognition, living disconnected from the land He entrusted to us?

Flora Farms embodies something we were never meant to lose: a deep respect for the rhythm of seasons, the beauty of slow-growing nourishment, and the wisdom of working with God’s creation rather than against it.
Genesis 2:15 says, “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” That command still stands today.
Our world is fast-paced, filled with drive-thrus and microwaved meals, but maybe we need to slow down and return to the way God designed things — eating what He made, appreciating the hands that grow it, and remembering that our bodies are temples (1 Corinthians 6:19).
So, whether you’re dining at an elegant farm-to-table restaurant or simply planting a tomato in your backyard, let’s honor the Lord by caring for His creation. After all, every good and perfect gift –including fresh food, clean air, and the ability to savor it all — comes from Him (James 1:17).
And let’s not forget that Jesus Himself was no stranger to a good meal shared in community. So, here’s to enjoying His bounty, living wisely, and remembering that even something as simple as a farm can point us back to our Creator and His creation.
