Always Room to Grow
It seems like we’re living in a world where disagreeing with someone isn’t enough. We’ve got to drag their character through the mud, too. Opinions used to be table talk; now they’re battlegrounds.
But here’s what I’m learning. I don’t want to be right more than I want to be kind. I want to grow, and I want to glow — with love, humility, and a teachable spirit.
Solomon, the wisest guy around, said it best: “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.” (Proverbs 1:5) That’s a gentle nudge from heaven to keep learning — even when we think we’ve arrived. Especially then.
Paul, a seasoned Jesus follower, wasn’t too proud to admit that he still had more to learn. “I want to know Christ,” he said in Philippians 3:10. Not past tense — present tense. After all his years of preaching, planting churches, and dodging shipwrecks, he was still hungry for more of Jesus.
Let’s never stop learning. Let’s lean in, listen up, and let the Holy Spirit do His refining work in us. John 16:13 reminds us that the Spirit of Truth is our guide. And if He’s leading, we’re in good hands.
So today, if you’ve messed up — join the club. But let’s mess up forward. Let’s keep soft hearts, open minds, and listening ears. Let’s be okay with being corrected, stretched, challenged — and changed.
The goal isn’t being right. The goal is being righteous. And that starts with humility.
So here’s our rally cry! We’re not done yet. God’s still working. And we’re still growing. Even if it means admitting — “Well, I may have been a little off on that one.”
That’s not weakness. That’s wisdom. A humble heart is a holy heart. Keep learning, keep listening, keep growing!
