Bold and Brave Believers

Bold and Brave Believers

They are those who have the kind of faith that steps out in bravery, courage, taking bold moves and fearless risks as they believe and pray for others and themselves.

We have an incredible “Lamplighters” (aka fellowship group) at our church that we joyfully attend after Sunday morning worship. Unlike our teenage years when Sunday School might have seemed slow and somewhat boring, we are a group of middle-agers who are excited to go to class! Our teacher makes a huge investment of time and energy for us in his obvious studies, along with providing sophisticated visuals.

On the monitors in the room, before class, there will be names of people who are going through treatments at MD Anderson or in a hospital for surgeries or at home recovering from an illness or are simply needing burden bearers to help them go the next mile.

It causes a pause to appreciate our good health, but it also assures us that we have a band of believers who sincerely pray and help us fight the good fight of faith with them.

Aw! Being adventuresome, no-quit believers for ourselves and for other believers who are going through times of trusting God for their own healing, their loved ones’ healing, and our own healing.

I think about those brave souls who are relentless in going for treatments regularly and many going lengthy distances to hospitals in hopes that a cure is found. And their friends or loved ones who go with them. They are relentless believers in “NOTHING is impossible with God” AND medical discoveries.

Many of us are going through our own stuff right now and what a relief it is that God brings along others to help us bear our burdens. None of us want to take “living” for granted. Sometimes we live our lives as though there is no end and so we live it as though it has no value. But bring on a crisis of any kind, we can throw in the towel or do WHATEVER it takes to finish our race strong.

Big, bold prayers and action is how Jesus set the example for us. One way or another “the fervent prayers of a righteous man (or woman) avails much” (James 5:16)! I’ve witnessed it. When I’ve prayed with bold, unwavering faith, I’ve seen God move enormous mountains. Father knew best, but my complete trust in Him brought the answer to those prayers in ways I couldn’t have even conceived.

That kind of faith-believing living means living life with passion, being open to possibilities, and reaching for the stars…..well, at least the top of trees! It’s having the courage to man up and woman up as intercessors, prayer warriors, burden bearers and strong believers in God’s faithfulness.

It means getting up off the couch and doing something that matters. Something like praying, making a phone call or sending a text to someone who needs encouragement this very day!

It means not succumbing to fear but doing all that God inspires us to do. It really is time for us to get up, get moving, and live every day with believing “Nothing is impossible with God”!

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had.” (Romans 15:5)
