Do You Wear a “Do Not Disturb” Sign?
Is this YOU? Do you have a “Do Not Disturb” sign around your neck?
Well, maybe not, literally, but do we give off vibes that say, “Please leave me alone. Please don’t bother me. I don’t have the time to get involved in your troubles. I have enough of my own. I just don’t care.” Or maybe, we keep our curtains or blinds closed at our home or we don’t answer our phones…..just because we just don’t want to be disturbed. We don’t want to take a chance that someone might just want to “talk”, or someone just might need us.
God didn’t assign us to “in-reach”. He called us to “out-reach”! We are His ambassadors and messengers of hope, comfort and peace. We are His hands and heart extended. And, the quickest way to solve our own set of problems is to help someone else solve their problems. The sure-found way to have friends….is to show ourselves to be friendly. What if we woke up each morning and said, “God, show me one person I can help today!” If each of us did that every day, it wouldn’t be too long before the world came to know God’s love – living through us!
You and I just can’t hang up “Do Not Disturb” signs to the doors of our hearts and homes. We must keep the doors open. We are called to DISTURB the world with the message of God’s love. Let’s start TODAY by wearing signs that say “Welcome, Come On In!”
