Even YOUTHS Grow Tired and Weary
Day 266 of Photo Inspirations — Even YOUTHS Grow Tired and Weary
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even YOUTHS grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” —Isaiah 40:29–31
Yesterday, this scripture took on a whole new meaning. My 11-year old grandson, Brennan, woke up and was barely able to move. He had run 7+ miles in his school’s Jog-A-Thon (his schools’ annual fundraiser) the day before. The morning, he felt every mile he ran. I know that feeling from not working out for a period of time and then, in one day’s time, to do a maniac work-out and also running half marathons and the next day, having trouble moving from a chair to a stand-up position and vice versa. Oh, the pain. I know you relate! You’ve been there, too!
So, while on a trip to the mall, just by happenstance, we came upon a Brookstone Store and it was like seeing an oasis in the middle of the desert. We were the store’s only customers so it was the sales clerk’s pleasure to get the three of us set up in those massage chairs. Oh, sweet joy and bliss! As that scripture says “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength” – our strength and muscles were renewed. Bryson and I only ran 3-1/2 miles in the Jog-A-Thon but those machines felt mighty good to us too! How often can a Nana find a place with little to no need for oversight, and to just embrace the one hour of “Calgon, take me away?” LOL!!
Don’t you love how relevant God is in every area of our lives? When we are hungry – He feeds us. When we are sad – He comforts us. When we are stressed – He soothes us. And, when we need strength and healing – He gives us a Massage Store!!! He definitely renewed our strength for the rest of the day that included bike rides, walks to the park and Nerf gun wars! I sure don’t need a rocker because my grandsons ROCK this rockin’ Nana!
