Expecting 2024 to be the Best Year Ever
I love that round number, 2024. My grandson, Payton, was born in 2000. That means we’ve been able to keep up with his age because it’s the same two digits of the year. He’ll be 24 in 2024.
I’m counting on two additions to our family in 2024. Payton, the upcoming 24-year-old grandson and his fiancée Zoe will be marrying this year. And, Braden, our oldest grandchild will marry Jaclyn this year.
I enjoy digging for interesting info about numbers. For example, twenty-four (24) is the number of hours in a day; the number of carats in pure gold; the number of blackbirds baked in a pie in the nursery rhyme “Sing a Song of Sixpence”.
The number twenty-four is written twenty times in the Bible, The number twenty-four represents the church because it is the sum of the number of tribes of Israel (12) and the Apostles (12). There are twenty-four chapters in the Book of Joshua, 2 Samuel and the Gospel of Luke.
The word “judges” is used twenty-four times in the New Testament. The word “lamb” appears twenty-four times in Revelation. The words “water” and “spirit” both appear twenty- four times in the Gospel of John.
This year of 2024 is called Leap Year – 366 days instead of the usual 365. That’s because even though the standard calendar year is 365 days, the Earth takes 365 days 5 hours 48 minutes and 46 seconds to go completely around the sun. This is called a solar year. To keep the calendar cycle synchronized with the seasons, one extra day is usually added every four years as February 29th. You’re welcome!
And, 2024’s U.S. general elections will be held on November 5th. It will include In the federal government, the offices of president, vice president, all 435 seats of the House of Representatives, and roughly one third of the Senate. You’re welcome again! PLEASE be sure you are registered to vote!
What is all this number talk all about, Donna? Let’s imagine it’s December 31, 2024, and we’re looking back and realizing that 2024 turned out to be one of the best years of our lives. Why not begin thinking that way – even if today isn’t going as we had hoped?
It is like writing an ideal movie script of what we expect this year. The goal is to always be expecting. Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Today is January 3, 2024. We start — right here and right now — with gratitude because we can live each day with thinking and believing and even speaking: “This year is going better than I could have ever imagined.” It is not a farfetched notion. It is something that God intends for us!
Why not begin today with words of affirmation and positivity like: “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24
God goes before us in whatever this day holds. ““The LORD Himself goes before you…” Deuteronomy 31:8
Let’s determine to live with THAT reality every day. I am expecting 2024 to be our BEST. YEAR. EVER. So let’s make every day count!
