February: A Month of Love and a Call to Prayer
February is often called the month of love. Hearts, flowers, and sweet sentiments fill the air, reminding us to cherish those we hold dear. But love is more than roses and chocolates. It is presence, it is care, it is walking with one another through both joy and sorrow.
We all were jolted when tragedy struck and lives were lost in a heartbreaking helicopter and airplane collision a couple of days ago. Families are now facing an unimaginable reality — an empty chair at the table, a voice they long to hear, arms they ache to hold.
Their world has changed in an instant, and no Valentine’s Day card can mend such a wound. But love — true, deep, God-given love — meets them and us in our broken places. Lord, we pray your compassion, peace and comfort surrounds those hurting today!
The Bible tells us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) Right now, we join in love by lifting these families in prayer. Lord, be their strength when they have none. Be their peace in the sleepless nights. Surround them with Your love in ways they cannot yet see.
I pray that this February, love be more than a fleeting gesture in all of our lives. Let it be a call to action — a reason to pray, a reason to reach out, a reason to cherish every single moment we are given.
If someone is on your heart today, tell them. If there’s a hand you can hold, hold it. If there’s a way to bring comfort, offer it.
Love never fails. Love moves. Love prays. Love remains.
