Finishing Strong is What Matters

Finishing Strong is What Matters

For Super Bowl fans, you already know the outcome, but for the rest who it didn’t matter and didn’t watch the big game, I’m breaking the news to you that the Kansas City Chiefs overcame a 10-point deficit in the last few minutes of overtime to win and become the first back-to-back Super Bowl champion in two decades as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.

Both teams were tied at the end of regulation then in overtime a field goal gave the 49ers’ the lead. But Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, with 13 seconds left in overtime, connected with receiver Mecole Hardman on a one-yard touchdown pass to give the Chiefs their third Super Bowl in the past five seasons.

Along the way I might have had some feelings for cheering for one of the teams, and then the other. Brock Purdy, the 49ers’ quarterback had disappointment written all over his face when he couldn’t pull off his Super Bowl win.

Maybe you don’t care one way or the other about a Super Bowl game, but I am sure you do care about your own game of life and you are feeling lack-luster in your achievements. You’re close to throwing in the towel on what you have long strived to achieve. You’ve been so close to the finish line yet the win hasn’t come.

PLEASE PLEASE — don’t stop now! Okay — stop and get your breath and your heart back to carry on, good and faithful servant! This is not the time to give up or give in. Your race — your game — your contract — your book — your career — your job — your efforts — your prayers — your faith — your beliefs — your dreams — your heart’s desires — IT’S NOT OVER ‘TIL YOU DO WIN!

Refuse to stay in that giving up and giving in mindset! Your race is still underway! Go to your Coach, our Lord God, Who with nothing is impossible! Snap out of those doldrums and find that place of joy, gladness, comfort and peace. Isaiah 26:3 says: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

STOP listening to the voice of the enemy on the sidelines chanting lies of defeat and misery to you. LISTEN to the ONE Who has incredible plans for you.

God’s purpose for you goes way beyond times of disappointment. In fact, that disappointment today may just be the set up for HIS APPOINTMENT where hope is found and a major comeback is on its way that produces successes and joy.

I have known disappointment but I didn’t give up. Now, my days are filled with purpose and I know that I’m walking/running in my destiny, getting to bring others with me on this field of life.

We never know when our last day on this earth will be. But here’s what we do know. We have a choice today to get back in the game and finish strong. Our new start can begin today. Regardless of our past mistakes of dropping the ball or missing the tackle, we can decide to carry on and finish as winners!
