God’s Timing is Everything
Yes, it is! I can’t begin to list off the number of times we’ve been at the right place at the right time, and at the wrong place at the wrong time. When in the right place, it seemed God had us all wrapped up, tied up in Him and His marvelous ways.
At the wrong time, we wondered “Where are you, God?” but He was there just the same and working out His master plan even when it didn’t seem like it. When we wholeheartedly place our trust in His sovereignty, then right places and wrong places turn out for our good. (Romans 8:28)
I received a comment on my blog from a friend who shared that the last couple of years had been very hard for them. I replied: “Praying the day comes soon that you see God’s master plan bringing you not only through to victory, but the lessons learned will equip you from here to eternity!”
Esther 4:14 are Uncle Mordecai’s words to his niece, Queen Esther: “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” That verse taught me that God allows us to get into situations and circumstances we didn’t plan for but are still His divine orchestration. Like, out of the blue — my desire to move to Austin, came out of Covid and the non-negotiable requirements to stay at home, isolated and home maintenance issues that caused me to be done with those monotonous “issues”.
Uncle Mordicai urged his niece, Queen Esther, to approach the king and beg him to spare the lives of her Jewish captives. Esther was not the one who would have been nominated to save a nation, but she was the one God chose to use.
Think about other Bible characters that God’s plan included “for such a time as this” moments, too!
~ Abraham packed up his family and left the only home he had ever known. He didn’t know where he was going, but he knew the One who had told him to go.
~ Peter left his lucrative fishing business to follow Jesus.
~ Paul was on the Pharisees’ ladder of success when he met Jesus on the road to Damascus.
Like those Bible characters, the situations we confront, are most likely appointments God sets up for us. They are our greatest opportunities to obey Him, yield to His plans, and earn His favor and blessings. Those opportunities will provide fulfillment and joy in our lives.
I find myself amongst those Bible characters because of the many times my course and MY plans were altered…..but for my good! When I go with God’s flow, I am amazed at His ways being so much better than mine!
None of us ever would have heard of Queen Esther if she had dug in her heels and said “no” to God. But she chose to risk everything to march to God’s drum. She chose well!
This life is a journey, but none of us walks it alone. God is there and He speaks. Father knows best and when we yield to His voice and His plans, we’ll end up right where He planned all along! His plans just may be different than our plans. His plans may even interrupt whatever we’re wanting to do. They might even require us to make a sacrifice.
But, if the voice behind us, or within us, says, “This is the way, walk in it,” we best choose to go. God’s highways are much better than the back roads we might have chosen.
Are you reading and agreeing with these words “for such a time as this?” This may be your moment, your reason, your season to step up to the plate and swing for the fences! After all, God, has got you and me, and His timing is everything!”
