He Giveth… and Giveth Again

He Giveth… and Giveth Again

Oh — sweet goodness — that follows us all the days of our lives. Yesterday, we took off — literally! We traded the Texas heat for the crisp, cool air of Crested Butte, Colorado.

It started with a simple question from Carl’s daughter (my bonus daughter): “Want to do something different for Father’s Day?” Yes, please.

And, bada bing bada boom — here we are in a little slice of mountain heaven! It was just a short drive from Gunnison Airport to their new “second” home nestled in the heart of Crested Butte AND with the ski lift only 200 yards from their home.

Mountains — oh the beauty and majesty — hiking, laughing, yummy comfort food — no food chains here — sweet time of making memories — what more could we ask for?

We won’t be in Austin this Father’s Day — my son will be celebrating with his crew in Cabo, and my daughter’s crew celebrating in East Texas. But God, in His lavish goodness, had other plans for us. He always does.

Crested Butte holds sweet memories for me. It’s where we took our young children on their first ski trip over 45 years ago. We rode a sleeper bus — shared bunks, midnight giggles, and really too excited to sleep!

Our little ones? They were quick to learn to ski and before we knew it, after more ski trips – they quickly became black diamond skiers. And me? I became rich — not in dollars, but in memories.

“The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” (Proverbs 10:22)

This trip reminded me: God’s blessings come wrapped in relationships, laughter, and the ability to remember where we’ve been — and rejoice in where we’re going.

And oh, His grace. “But He gives more grace…” (James 4:6)
Not just once. Not just on holidays. He keeps giving — to the humble, the grateful, and those who keep showing up with open hands and full hearts.

Grace isn’t a one-time deposit. It flows daily. It softens the hard days, sweetens the good ones, and holds us when life feels uncertain.

So, here’s to old memories, new adventures, and the ongoing overflow of God’s goodness.

He gives… and gives… and gives again.
