He Walked Among Us and We Walk with Him
Today is Ascension Thursday — a day many believers don’t realize carries as much awe as Easter morning. We often shout “He is risen!” And rightfully so. But do we whisper the second half of the miracle? He stayed a while — for 40 extra days!
For forty days — after coming out of that tomb — Jesus walked this earth in resurrected glory. He ate meals with His disciples, let Thomas touch His wounds, and met two weary travelers on the Emmaus road. Acts 1:3 tells us He gave “many convincing proofs that He was alive.” Convincing proofs. Not wishful thinking or emotional hallucinations. No fake news here!
This wasn’t just a fleeting moment. For over a month, the once-dead Jesus walked, talked, and pointed hearts back to the Kingdom. Then, on the 40th day, He ascended into heaven. His followers watched in stunned silence as their Savior rose once more. This time, not from a tomb, but into glory.
He left with a promise: “I’m sending the Comforter.” (John 16:7)
In today’s grief-heavy world — we cling to that promise. The Holy Spirit — our Comforter, our Helper, our Advocate — reminds us we are never alone. Jesus may have ascended, but He didn’t abandon. He sent power, presence, and peace to dwell in us.
I remember standing on the Mount of Olives in 2016, hearing our Jewish-Christian tour guide share that while others still await their Messiah, we know ours came, died, rose, walked among us, and ascended in glory. And He’s coming back.
Before His lift-off, Jesus gave us our marching orders: “Go and make disciples.” (Matthew 28:19)
And so we go.
They tried to silence Him. They tried to erase the movement. But 2,000+ years later, we’re still here. Still proclaiming. Still loving. Still going. We are not a timid remnant — we are a world-changing force of grace, compassion, and truth.
The tomb is empty. The sky received Him. And now, our hearts carry the mission.
Let’s go change the world.
