Hedge of Protection

Hedge of Protection

In these tumultuous times (I used that word because of all the back-stabbing rhetoric in our politics — ugh!), it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the chaos swirling around us.

The uncertainty of our world’s future, the anxiety over who will lead our nation, and the constant barrage of troubling news can make our minds feel like a stormy sea. We worry about our children and the challenges they face in a world that often seems to be spiraling out of control. It feels like everything is going to hell in a handbasket, doesn’t it?

But amidst the turmoil, we have a promise that can anchor our souls and give us hope. God promises us a hedge of protection.

Imagine a lush, green hedge surrounding a garden, keeping out the dangers and chaos of the outside world. This is the kind of protection God offers us. In Job 1:10, Satan acknowledges this divine protection, saying, “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has?”

This hedge of protection is not just a metaphor but a reality for those who trust in God. It doesn’t mean we won’t face challenges or hardships, but it means that God’s presence will surround us, shielding us and giving us the strength to endure.

When our minds are troubled, and we’re concerned about the future, we can find solace in God’s promise. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

We may not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future. God’s hedge of protection is a reminder that we are never alone. He is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

So, as we navigate these uncertain times, let us lean into God’s promise of protection. Let us pray fervently for our children, our leaders, and our world, trusting that God’s hedge is around us. Let us carry on with the confidence that comes from knowing we are safeguarded by the Almighty.

No matter who sits in the Oval Office, our ultimate protection and peace come from the One who sits on the heavenly throne. God’s hedge of protection surrounds us, giving us the courage to face each day with hope and faith.

Take heart, dear friends, and remember that God’s hedge is ever-present, shielding us and guiding us through the storm.
