He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands
AND — that Includes You and Me
Remember the old spiritual, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”? Its simple melody and profound message have comforted generations, reminding us of God’s sovereign care over all of us!
WE ARE FAMILY — but this family of mine was spread all over the place! This Mother’s Day, I found myself reflecting on being in God’s care — wherever we may be!

Coordinating family gatherings can be a challenge — except for one, my son’s family was present. My daughter’s children were scattered — one in Guatemala and the other — in Nashville. But, on our lunch table — was a photo of our entire crew! And God has us all in His mighty hands!

It made me wonder: how does God manage to keep track of all of us?
Yet, He does. He holds each of us in His hands. He is always there — attentive to our joys and sorrows, our comings and goings. It’s a comforting thought, especially when life feels disjointed.

Living with the perspective of God holding us in His hands is awesome, but we should be doing our part to daily communion with Him. The more time we spend in His presence, the more our lives reflect His character. Acts 4:13 speaks of Peter and John, ordinary men who, through their boldness and faith, were recognized as having been with Jesus.
Oh! I want that — being recognized as having been with Jesus! When the world feels overwhelming, let’s remember: He’s got the whole world in His hands — that includes you, me, our children, our extended family and loved ones near and far.
Yes, my dear THERE IS a God in Whom we can call on minute by minute. He sees us. He knows us. He calls us by name. And, yes, He loves us — not just when we’re good — but all the time!
Now, let’s spend some time with Jesus — so that we’re recognized as having been with Him!
