Home NOT Alone
It all started seven months ago when we had an estate sale to rid his home of no longer-needed contents. He loved our apartment “nest”, so he put his charming home on the market. Little did we know that beneath its delightful exterior, lay a web of plumbing problems waiting to be uncovered. But hey, isn’t that just the joy of homeownership? (Insert eye roll!)
As Carl navigated through the murky waters of negotiations with potential buyers, he encountered more twists and turns than an episode of “Fixer Upper.” But through it all, he held onto his determination to see this journey through to the end.
Amid the stress, Carl and I leaned on our faith more than ever before. We trusted that God had a plan and that He would guide us through each hurdle. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Hm, and He will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
And let me tell you, God’s intervention was nothing short of miraculous. The buyers signed the contract to buy this sweet showstopper home.
But it wasn’t just about the process and the plumbing concerns and the timing, it was about the transformation taking place within us. We learned the importance of patience, perseverance, and above all, keeping our sense of humor intact. Because let’s face it, sometimes we must laugh to keep from crying.
Finally, after months of nail-biting anticipation, victory day has arrived. The house closes today! Hallelujah! We will celebrate with hearts of gratitude and a renewed sense of faith. Through it all, we learned that staying patient and practicing determination, even when the going gets tough, leads to sweet victory in the end.
So, here’s to that home that held sweet family times of God’s provision and blessings. I really wasn’t a part of the family times, but I married the man that stood faithful in the good and not so good times.
At times, it may have been a bumpy ride, but it was worth every twist and turn. And as we carry on WITHOUT a house to maintain, high electrical, gas and water bills, wildlife removal, etc., we now embark on a new chapter of life. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
We do so with a grateful heart, knowing that God’s hand has been with us every step of the way. Cheers to new beginnings and never giving up, my friends!
