I Flew the Coop After Forty Days of Quarantine

May 1, 2020 Off By Donna Wuerch

May 1st! Can we even believe it? We have learned some things during this time of quarantine that will serve us for the rest of our days. We’ve been given many opportunities to grow spiritually and for that we’ll forever be grateful. I sincerely believe that God is in Master-control of everything! I am completely at peace when one of these days, He’ll call my number and I’ll show up on time! I’m confident of this – like St. Paul writes: “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:10) Win – Win – either way!

I’m not an alarmist, but these times certainly do conjure up thoughts about our end of days. And if it is — “What a day that will be when my Jesus I will see. I will look upon His face – the One Who saved me by His grace. When He takes me by the hand, and leads me to the Promise Land. What a day – glorious day that will be!” I’ve studied the Bible long enough that I know there are many proof-positives that God is up to something! This is a friend’s FB post a few days ago that intrigued me:

“The official COVID-19 lockdown started March 23rd and will likely end May 1st. That is EXACTLY 40 days. The Latin root of the word “quarantine” is “forty”. So, what does the Bible say about 40? The flood lasted 40 days — for 40 years Moses fled to Egypt — 40 days Moses stayed on Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments — the Exodus lasted 40 years — Jesus fasted for 40 days – The law was 40 days for a woman to rest after giving birth – The optimum number of weeks for human gestation is 40.

A group of theologians says the number 40 represents change. It is the time of preparing a person, or people, to make a change. Something will happen after these 40 days. Just believe and pray. Remember, whenever the number 40 appears in the Bible, there is a change. Please know that during this quarantine, rivers are cleaning up, vegetation is growing, the air is becoming cleaner because of less pollution, there is less theft and murder, healing is happening, and most importantly, people are turning to Christ. The Earth is at rest for the first time in many years and hearts are truly transforming.

Remember we are in the year 2020 and 20 + 20 = 40. Also, 2020 is the year of the United States Census. Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, was born during a census. Lastly, 2020 is perfect vision. May our sight focus on the Lord and living according to His perfect vision for us knowing He holds us in the palm of His hand. May these days of quarantine bring spiritual liberation to our souls, our nation, and our world.”

That was a great lesson in numerology – a lot of people are into that study. And they give great credence to their findings. But, here’s what makes my day! One day history will come to a close and eternity will go forever. The future is as bright as the promises of God. Remember our reward will last forever. The Bible says, “Our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all”. 2 Cor 4:17

Imagine what it is going to be like when one day, with ALL of us standing before the throne of God (no necessity for 6-foot social distancing there), as we present our lives in deep gratitude and praise to Christ. Together we will say, “Worthy, oh Master! Yes, our God! We will praise Him for His perfect plan and live for His purposes forever! Did I give you something to think about?
