I’m Available

I’m Available

I am in an availability season! I can change my mind and do this or that almost 24/7. It is a sweet season. I get to volunteer for several groups. I get to encourage and help others. I get to make decisions about going here or there with a friend at a moment’s notice. I get to take trips to see family and friends whenever I please.

I am sure there are many of my readers who dream of my life. I am living the dream that I had! I was a busy wife and mama — getting my children off to school as I hustled myself and my husband off to our jobs. I juggled many responsibilities just like many of you do today. Saying “I’m available!” wasn’t offered freely.

But here I am today. It is my mode of operation, especially when it comes to serving. I earned these opportunities. And you are earning them, too!

But, more than the seasons of life that changes our availability for raising our hand to volunteer for this or that – God is looking for our availability to Him regardless of the season we are in.

“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)

Most people get to watch history; very few get to make it. But I believe we can be one of those few history-makers. A thousand years before we were born, God knew we’d be where we are right now. He knew we’d be reading this blog. I believe it’s because God has something special, something unique in store for each of us – whatever season of life we are in.

You and I are not sitting where we’re sitting right now by accident. You might be reading this blog from your cell phone or your computer – from your home or office or in a doctor’s office. God knows it. He probably nudged you to read this blog right now. This minute.

None of us have had the experiences in our lives by chance. God designed our lives to make a difference in the world. No matter where we’ve been, what we’re afraid of, or what mistake is in our rearview mirror, God can still use us to make a difference in this world.

God wants us to be all in on His plan for us. This isn’t about our ability; it’s about our availability. At an early age, I raised my hand at church in response to the call for those who are willing to surrender all to God.

I told God, “I’m all in! I don’t care what You ask me to do or how tough it is, I’ll say yes—anytime, anywhere, and anyplace.” Since then, it has been a wild and amazing adventure doing what God says to do.

You can make that same decision, too. The Bible says God is looking for people to use to change the world. He is looking to you—yes, you—to be a world-changer.

It all starts with a committed heart. Why not start today? Let God know that you’re available to do whatever He wants with your life. Tell God you want Him to use you, and then watch how He answers your prayer.

I love the words of this song written by Carlis Moody. I truly mean them. Will you make them your words too?

“Lord, I’m available to You
My will I give to You
I’ll do what You say do
Use me Lord to show someone the way, and enable me to say
My storage is empty, and I am available to You.”
