Increase the Love Dosage
This little gal is one of Bryson’s friends. Her shirt inspired me — “Do all things with love!” 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Do everything in love.”
Valentine’s Day ended four days ago and I wonder how many are still enjoying the outpouring of love they received on that day. And, what about those who are thrilled all the hoopla about Valentine’s is over with? Whether we celebrated it or tolerated it, what matters is “Are we loving to the extent that we wish to be loved?”
Mother Teresa said, “‘Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” I think it’s the same with a relationship with a significant other, as well as the stranger we meet on the street. We should love like we want to be loved. To practice being more loving, we should create a love account. If we’ll make a few deposits into this account by doing something small to add joy into the life of someone else, how blessed, in turn, will we be.
Getting bogged down with daily routines is easy. Before we know it, our love accounts can be depleted, and when we should respond to those around us with love and kindness, often we might carelessly say something that is hurtful. It’s up to us to live purposely in love consciousness — making choices dictated by the ACTIVE walk of love.
What does an ACTIVE walk of love look like? It’s actively walking across the street to help our neighbors, actively cooking a warm meal for a friend in need, or it’s actively visiting a near-by nursing home to love on the elderly. Let’s ask God to lead us to places where He wants us to shine His light and ask Him for the courage and strength to share His love with all who surround us in our daily lives.
Let’s perpetuate this Month of Love by giving out HUGE doses of love to everyone we encounter. With eyes focused on He WHO is love, our “filter” will be through the love He gave to us, and we won’t be able to resist loving like He loves. And, maybe when we do this, we will guide people to His beauty and they, too, will begin to actively love others and then, who knows how many lives will be impacted?
“By this EVERYONE will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35.
