It’s Time to Trust God More Than Ever

It’s Time to Trust God More Than Ever

Trust doesn’t come easy for everyone – especially when we listen to skeptics and anti-faith dealers. I am not a frequent news watcher, but because my dear husband is a strong proponent in our election process, he stays tuned into politics and most important info hitting the airwaves.

Often, I’ll lend my ear to what he is watching and, but I am not keen on the info that is less than reassuring. It challenges me to double down on my faith, to trust God more deeply for the future.

We often hear about putting on the “armor of God,” a concept from Ephesians that feels more relevant today than ever. Living a faith-filled life isn’t easy. It’s like being in a battle. Remember, Paul wrote His words when both the Jewish community and the Roman government were hostile to Christianity. Sound a bit familiar?

I can’t recall a time in my life when leaning into my faith and arming myself with God’s Word was more crucial. Expressing Christian values is becoming increasingly challenging in today’s culture.

Why is it easier to trust in the visible — like the chariots and horses King David mentions in Psalm 20:7? “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

This scripture has been on my mind a lot lately, especially considering the political swings. It’s a good reminder that our trust shouldn’t be in political parties or leaders, but in God alone.

Let’s be real. Satan seems to be having a field day with our culture right now. But, as believers, we’re not called to win cultural victories. We are called to prevent personal defeats. We must remember, our battle is not against people but against “the spiritual forces of evil” (Ephesians 6:12).

We have the perfect guidance in the Bible. The Apostle James summed it up well: “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry” (James 1:19). Imagine how different our interactions would be if we lived by those words.

When Jesus was crucified, the disciples thought all was lost. They didn’t know the resurrection was just around the corner. Similarly, we don’t know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.

We might be tempted to trust the visible “chariots and horses,” but true faith lies in trusting God, Whom we’ve come to know through His word and actions.

So, as we face uncertainties and challenges, let’s remember to trust God more deeply. After all, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). What could be more important than that?

If anything seems more critical today, maybe it’s time to pray until it isn’t.
