Let’s Flex Our Faith

Let’s Flex Our Faith

Some phrases just stick. Our Lamplighters Bible teacher, Zack Dawes, tossed one out Sunday morning while we were diving into the book of Daniel: “Flex your mighty right arm!”

That’s straight from Isaiah 51:9 — a bold, beautiful prayer:
“Awake, awake, arm of the Lord, clothe yourself with strength! Flex your mighty right arm!”

It’s an ancient call to action. God’s people prayed it when they felt small and surrounded. They remembered how He once split the sea and set captives free — and they dared to ask Him to do it again.

I couldn’t help but smile. What a phrase to carry into Thursday! “Flex your mighty right arm!” That feels like something a trainer might yell at the gym, except this time it’s heaven’s gym — and we’re asking God to show His strength.

But here’s the wonder: while we ask God to flex, He often invites us to flex our faith. Daniel did. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did — standing before a fiery furnace with unshakable trust. They didn’t know if rescue would come, but they knew Who they belonged to. That’s faith flexing.

Faith flexing doesn’t mean we’re strong on our own. It means we lean into God’s strength when ours runs out. It’s the quiet courage to keep praying when answers feel delayed. It’s trusting His plan when the headlines are scary. It’s choosing hope over despair, forgiveness over bitterness, and obedience over fear.

Zack’s lesson reminded me — we don’t serve a tired God. The same arm that parted the Red Sea still reaches into our lives. The same strength that shut the lions’ mouths in Daniel’s day is at work today.

So maybe, when worry shows up or the load feels too heavy, we whisper, “Lord, flex Your mighty right arm.” And then, we lift our own hands — open, surrendered, ready to trust and obey.

“The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses HIs people with peace.” — Psalm 29:11

Let’s flex our faith, not our fear. God’s arm is still mighty. His strength has not faded. His strength will carry us! “Lord, please flex Your mighty right arm!”
