Living and Being God’s Garden
Our time in Denver included one of the highlights — truly one of the sweetest scents of our visit — was our walk through the Denver Botanic Gardens.
It was more than a stroll. It was a soul-awakening.
From the moment we stepped through the entrance, it felt like we’d entered Eden’s side gate.
The trees whispered. The flowers beamed. The fragrance of fresh life lingered like a heavenly hug. It was as if God Himself had painted the paths with a palette of peace and delight.

The Gardens house the largest collection of cold-climate plants in North America — along with native Colorado flora, the serene Japanese garden of Wind and Pines, and the world’
Each turn unveiled a new kind of beauty. A new scent. A fresh texture. A soft breeze through tall grasses.
It made me wonder — what if our lives looked like this?

What if we lived as God’s garden? Not overgrown with worry or withered by comparison… but blooming with the fruit of the Spirit:
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22–23)
Wouldn’t that be the most fragrant offering to a weary world?

The Denver Botanic Gardens reminded me: God is a gardener. He planted Eden. He walks among His creation. And today, He still plants beauty in us — seeds of mercy, blossoms of grace, fruit that nourishes the people around us.
We’re not just meant to admire the garden. We’re meant to be it.
Isaiah 58:11 says, “You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

Truth is – we are God’s garden AND His gardeners — called to tend the garden of humanity — all the world that God so loves. Tending the garden means sowing seeds of kindness and love – that our world needs so much.
As His gardeners, we are the seeds being scattered and sown. The Lord is tending us, carefully and lovingly, helping us to grow each day.
The Denver Botanic Gardens were stunning – but even more stunning is this truth and the prayer of my heart:
Lord, let my life be a fragrance that smells, looks and acts like you. Let it be lush, fragrant, and full of fruit that loves everyone — even if they act more like weeds than beautiful fragrant flowers. May we be YOUR garden that blooms with your love!
