Nestled in Loving Arms
At my beauty shop a few days ago — I saw something that wrapped me in peace before I even had time to name it.
There I was, getting my hair cut — snip, snip — when I caught sight of another stylist two chairs down. Nothing out of the ordinary, until I saw who else was with her. A tiny baby girl, snuggled right up against her mama in a soft sling carrier, pressed close and still as could be. Not a peep. No fuss. Just peace. (Pictured here!)
That little one wasn’t worried about the scissors or the blow dryer or the conversations swirling around her. She was tucked in, safe and secure. Her mother worked with both hands, but her heart and body were holding her baby close. And that baby knew it.

I couldn’t help but think of Psalm 131:2: “Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me.”
What a picture that is! One of trust, stillness, and surrender. A child who knows he or she is held doesn’t need to understand all the noise and movement around theym — they just need to know they’re loved.
That’s what God offers us every day – if only we would nestle into His loving embrace and let the One Who is in control — take care of the stuff coming at us.
There’s plenty that’s too big for me — the state of the world, the future, the unknowns I can’t seem to fix. But here’s the beauty — He never asked me to carry it. He’s the Parent. The Everlasting Arms. The One who says, “Come here, little one. I’ve got you.”
And so, today, won’t you join me in nestling in with our awesome and loving Father? Let’s give all the gnarly stuff to the One Who really is in control – and let Him run the universe.
Let’s nestle into His will, not wrestle with it. Let’s hand over the heavy stuff to Him. Let’s lean in and rest like that peaceful baby girl, safe in the arms of love.
That’s where I’m living – nestled – and oh how sweet it is!
How about you?
