Oh, Yes. We Know What to Do!

What a roller coaster ride we’ve been on this year. Future generations will hear of it and be ever so glad they didn’t have to experience this one. 2020 will make the history books that generations to come will read about.

We’re approaching this year’s end and we’re still looking for answers to the pandemic and the election. We’re wondering if we’ll ever break out of the need to wear face masks, social distance, rancor, riots, concern and worry. At least those of us who are followers of Christ know that He makes a way when there seems to be no way. We know He knows the beginning from the end, so we know our future is secure, Were it not for our faith and trust in our awesome and sovereign God, we might just be in a world of misery like so many live in every day.

We’ve all been there – trying to figure out what to do. There — where the answers don’t come. There — where the plans are uncertain. There — where there is a mob raising havoc in our lives. There — where the relentless, negative, angry mob criticizes those of us who are Bible-toters, sanctity of life believers, and lovers of God and country and who are unwilling to not let up with our faith-filled attitudes and words until we’re taken up.

Maybe we don’t know what to do, but we go to our WHO — Who does! We need to follow our Leader Who shows leaders the way. One such leader is King Jehoshaphat who spoke those same words when a vast army was approaching and prayed: “Lord, we don’t know what to do…but our eyes are upon You.” (2 Chronicles 20:12) Jehoshaphat did something we won’t find in any military briefing. He put the worshippers in front of the army and led with the singers and the praisers. Their attention was on God — mighty in battle – the great Hope, Way maker, and Miracle Worker. That is Who He is and He is the answer to “I don’t know what to do!” King Jehoshaphat’s armies watched the enemy forces fight and destroy each other.

What an amazing testimony to the power of faith, prayer, and praise. That same power is available to us today. Praise is the voice of faith. If you are unsure about what to do today, and if the enemy is coming and the battle is raging — stand your ground and raise your voice. Speak the truth about Who God is and what He has done. Instead of telling God how big your problems are, tell your problems how BIG your God is. We cannot lose with Him. We cannot be overcome.

Right now, we can be victors or victims. I choose VICTORS. Sure, we may have plenty of battle scars, but we are still raising invisible swords as we praise and worship God. Jehoshaphat won his battle. We will too. We think we must know what to do. But all we really need to know is Who. When it looks like we’re surrounded, we remind the enemy how we fight our battles – and not with a sword or spear or fear or worry. We remind him that we are surrounded by the Lord God of hosts by praising and worshiping Him. YES, we do know what to do!
