On the Road Again… and Grateful for the Ride!

We’re packed to the brim — literally and emotionally — as Carl and I hit the road to Fort Worth, Texas, for the annual Noble Family Reunion.

The trunk? Loaded with over 75 Silent Auction items. My heart? Loaded with anticipation, love, and just a smidge of “please Lord, let this all come together.”

This isn’t just a road trip — it’s a homecoming. From California to Texas, cousins, grandkids, aunts, uncles, and more will gather to laugh, hug, eat (hallelujah!), and tell stories that always start with, “Do y’all remember the time…”

The agenda includes a talent show, family competitions, a business meeting that catches us up with all the news and even a time of memorializing a family member who passed away during the ice and snow this winter and we couldn’t make it to the service.

It’s a phenomenon, really. In a world where people can go for years without a phone call, this family chooses to show up. To remember where we came from. To honor the ones who started it all. To celebrate the new babies, the newlyweds, the grads, and the growing tribe that keeps adding chairs to the table.

I’ve had a blast gathering treasures for the Silent Auction — many from the Vincentian Family Center where I volunteer. It’s a gold mine of joy and surprises, and I’ve scooped up some finds that’ll have folks bidding with glee. And every dollar raised? Goes right back to the family – gifts for milestones, and even the upkeep of the cemetery where beloved ancestors rest.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 reminds us: “Impress [these truths] on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road.” And oh, we will. With every shared memory, every laugh, every tear — we are imprinting legacy.

Psalm 133:1 says it best: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.”

So here we go. Another Noble adventure. Another year of celebrating the roots that hold us and the branches that keep reaching.

Because families like this? Aren’t normal. They’re Noble.
Let’s make our memories count and let’s celebrate the roots that ground us and the branches that keep growing. 💕
