PEACE — at all Cost

PEACE — at all Cost

If I know peace it is because I know God. Know peace, know God. No peace, no God. And the peace I know is a peace that passes all understanding.

I have written many blogs about peace. That peace is the basis for my MyPeaceZone.com website and this blog. Out of the seemingly most difficult times of my life, I found that peace. And, once I found that peace, it became a non-negotiable in my life.

Since finding that peace, if I happen to be involved in a discussion or am merely a bystander in someone else’s discussion and contention, anger or disagreeable communications arise, I do the walk-away — literally, or at the very least — in my mind. I retreat to a calm, quiet, and a peace-filled place of serenity and rest.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” Isaiah 26:3

God has promised to give us peace of mind. In fact, one of God’s names is Jehovah Shalom, which means, “I am the God of peace.” Finding peace is one of our deepest needs. If God has promised peace of mind but we don’t have it, then why? Here are some ways that we can be robbed of our peace:

1) We can lose our peace when circumstances are uncontrollable. Much of life is beyond our control. Gridlocked traffic can make us miss an important event. Our computer crashes right when the report is due in 30 minutes. There isn’t enough in our bank account to make it to the end of the month. Words were said that created soul-hurt and mental anguish. When these big or small things happen, we can lose our peace of mind.

2) We lose our peace when people are unchangeable. The quickest way to lose our cool is to try to change somebody else. Most people are just not going to change the way we want them to. And it keeps us from being at peace.

3) We lose our peace when problems are unexplainable. We know life isn’t fair. Things don’t always turn out right. And when we don’t know why, we get anxious, nervous, and stressed.

Accepting God’s peace doesn’t mean our life will be problem-free. It means that even when our world seems to be falling apart, we can be at peace because God offers us His peace that passes all understanding if we grab hold of it. That’s when we will be able to think clearly and sleep peacefully.

How do we get God’s peace in our life? God’s peace isn’t something we work for or beg for. It is a gift we receive by faith. Here is the peace-filled answer we need:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and THE PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

When we read, meditate and rely on these words…..PEACE will be ours even in the most storm-tossed times of our lives.

Prayer. Supplication aka Petition. Thanksgiving. Tell Him all about it. THEN…..the PEACE OF GOD, that passes all understanding will guard our hearts. This is where I live. This is MY PEACE ZONE! And, that’s why we can “walk on sunshine, even in the most trying times”. Been there, live there and stay there! Let’s protect our peace at all cost!
