Psychological Warfare is Real

Psychological Warfare is Real

The words, “psychological warfare” jumped out at me as I read my morning devotional a few days ago. Not only did I consider them for myself, I sent the devotional to a friend who is smack dab in a mind-battle!

In many ways our mind is a battlefield! We often find ourselves dodging fiery darts of doubt, negativity, and pessimism. That’s because our adversary, the devil, is a psychological warfare strategist, using tools like fear and hopelessness to disrupt our peace.

But fear not! We’re not defenseless in this mental brawl. God always has an upper hand to that tactical warfare. In fact, He has given us stellar armor that not only defends but also enables us to reclaim our joy and peace.

The enemy’s strategies include whispering lies into our ears, hoping we’ll accept them as truth. “You’re not good enough,” “Things will never get better.” His mental missiles are aimed at weakening our morale and causing us to shrink in the battle.

But as Christ’s followers, we are fully equipped to counterattack with the truth of God’s Word. The Bible is our divine, tactical guide that is packed full of winning strategies. When we are targeted with lies and fears, we counter with scriptures that affirm who we are in Christ.

It’s like having a divine interceptor that renders those mental missiles null and void. But God’s psychological warfare doesn’t stop at defense. It includes a brilliant offense! Our greatest offense is being fully armed with the fruit of the Spirit.

Take that Satan: “I’m powerfully LOADED with the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23) That is our tactical warfare!

When fear and doubt comes our way, we crank up the FRUIT! How? Through worship and praise and remembering the promises of God. Each “fruit” presents a strategic strike against the enemy’s plots.

Let’s not forget about prayer and praise — our spiritual artillery. That is our most tactical way to counter the enemy’s deceptive moves. Faith in our hearts and praise on our lips causes the enemy to run in terror!

With God as our commander, victory is not just possible—it’s assured! We know that in the grand scheme of things, we’re more than conquerors through Him who loves us.
