Surprise! A Smidgen of Snow!
What a breathtaking surprise greeted me yesterday morning — snow in Austin, Texas! This rarity transformed our little corner of the world into a glistening canvas, a tender reminder of God’s love and peace.
It was just a sprinkling of snow, but it was enough to stir my soul. Naturally, I grabbed my phone to snap a few photos, all while marveling at the serene beauty of this heavenly gift.

My “inner child” danced with joy, whisked back to memories of my years in Winnipeg, Manitoba. There, snow was anything but a smidgen — piles of it reached six feet high, with temperatures plunging to a bone-chilling -40°F. Yet, those winters were filled with awe, just as yesterday’s sprinkling stirred awe for the One who created it all.

This tiny bit of snow reminded me of how often we settle for a small sprinkling of Jesus in our day. We squeeze Him into our schedules rather than embracing Him as the center of our lives.
But what we truly need is not a sprinkling, but an abundant covering of His grace — grace that washes over us, transforms us, and makes us “white as snow.”
Isaiah 1:18 declares: “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” His grace is vast, immeasurable, and freely given to those who call on Him.

The snow also brought to mind a cherished song written and sung by my dear friend Stephanie Boosahda, “Somewhere It’s Snowing.” The lyrics capture the beauty of how God’s grace, like snow, covers our sins and brings new birth.
If you have a moment, listen to the song here with the beautiful background of snow. The song’s message is simple yet profound: God’s grace covers us completely, softening our hardened hearts just as snow blankets the earth.

So today, why not join me in having a little talk with the Snow-Giver? Let’s ask for more than a sprinkling of His grace. Let’s ask for a downpour. May His love and mercy cover us fully, bringing fresh peace to our hearts and souls.
And somewhere, it’s snowing.
