The Darkest Day or Brightest Day?

The Darkest Day or Brightest Day?

Yesterday, I received a text message that read: “Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade”. The text sender said: “God did it! Roe v. Wade overturned. Many intercessors have labored for years to see this come to past. Prayers prayed and prayers answered. God hears and God acts. Praise be to God!”

Our president declared “This is the darkest day in American history!” Can we even grasp those words when we have witnessed the darkest days in American history are each day when another life is taken by abortion?

This isn’t typical of my usual daily blogs, but I sense a greater call today. I fly under the radar when it comes to most political and public controversies. But my heart just won’t let me be silent when it comes to the abortion atrocities and how so many have the notion that it’s okay.

I write this blog on the heels of my attending the Andrea Bocelli Concert on Wednesday night. His personal story is compelling. In the video below, he speaks about “a young pregnant wife hospitalized for a simple attack of appendicitis. The doctors suggested that she abort the child. They told her it was the best solution because the baby would be born with some disability. But the young brave wife would not abort, and the child was born. That woman was my mother, and I was the child. Maybe I’m partisan, but I can say that it was the right choice.”

In Galatians 1:15, the Apostle Paul says “God chose me before I was born”. What does that say about God’s handiwork in our mother’s womb? I can respond to that question from firsthand experience. My mom wasn’t excited when she heard that she was pregnant (12 years after my sister’s birth). She could have been one of those who chose death over life. But thank God, she chose life and not only was I her “baby” all 94 years of her life, but she was my ministry after my dad passed away. God set me apart to be her caregiver, and I thank Him for that privilege.

I am ever grateful that President Trump ensured a solid Supreme Court that balanced the scales of justice for our precious babies’ lives. What should we do now?

— Pray for expectant mothers who may be facing horrific circumstances. Pray that God will bring peace to their anxieties and fears. Pray that the church will rise to address the needs young mothers are facing. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3).

— Pray that abortionists will come to know Christ as Savior. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

— Pray that abortion facilities will close. “He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success” (Job 5:12).

— Pray that the hearts of our leaders and all people will be awakened to the value of human life from conception to death. “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).

— Pray for those considering abortions to have divine encounters that will give them hope for their future. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11)

— Pray for women who have been the victims of abortionists, that they will experience spiritual, emotional, and physical healing. “The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love” (Psalm 145:8).

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
