The EMwomen Hope House

The EMwomen Hope House

February 28, 2023 Off By Donna Wuerch

Once a long-distance runner, running miles a day in preparation for another half-marathon, I have since retired from those long distances. But I’m still in it to win it! I have ran/walked several 5K’s to support various teams or organizations.

The first 5K was the Route 66 in Tulsa and was in honor of my precious husband. About 35 of us pledged to walk or run in the “Run for Ron”, on his behalf since he was paralyzed from an impinging tumor on his spinal cord. Some, on that day, ran the half-marathon, another the full marathon – all on purpose to declare “Ron can’t but WE can!”

So, here I am on course to run/walk another 5K at the Run the Alamo in San Antonio on Saturday, March 4th with others who are purposefully raising funds for the EMwomen Hope House, a home for women and girls who need the deep love, restoration and freedom that only God can give through us.

EMwomen is the organization that has been the pulse and heartbeat for my children, Larry and Staci Wallace, for over 18 years, helping women who have been disenfranchised, homeless, trafficked and others who needed a turnaround in their lives.

They purchased property (62 acres) in Alto, TX in 2022 for providing transitional living for women as they are trained, ministered to, and given Christian hope and healing — seeing them completely restored, and then sent out into the world to make a difference in other women’s lives.

The EMwomen Hope House will be a community center in Rusk, TX for those who need hope, help and healing during crisis. This is in addition to the transitional homes on Epiphany Ranch and will be a community center for those who readily need hope, help, and healing during crisis.

The Run the Alamo 5K in San Antonio is the perfect way to kick off this incredible project. Our own fees for the 5K is also sponsoring World Vision, an international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice, and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God. Double blessings for those of us who have registered for the event.

Along with some of the EMwomen graduates, Larry and Staci, and many others will be in the run for this incredible vision of legacy and generosity. This is one “step” toward the goal of $750,000, which will help purchase the property/home, furniture, and contents needed to make the house a home.

It sounds like a big audacious goal but when God tells us to do something, our job is not to ask “How”, our responsibility is to say “Yes” and take the first step of action.
