The Mountain and the Ocean
Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell once sang, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” but on Sunday, Carl and I had to admit — some mountains (and even hills) are, in fact, too high!
I’ve made the climb to the lighthouse and chapel on El Encanto (to love) many times, but this time, wisdom (and my marathon-worn knees) whispered, “Not today, Donna!” Instead, we took the scenic route via golf cart, winding up at the 18th hole on the golf course, where the roaring ocean greeted us with a sunrise that could only have been painted by the hand of God.

And oh, how we basked in His presence! His artistry stretched before us — the endless sky, the crashing waves, the morning light breaking through like a fresh start. I’m still a noticer, a seeker, and — often — a finder. Because no matter where we are, whether in Cabo or caught in a traffic jam back home, God is there. When we seek Him, we find Him.
The crowd in John 6:24, “got into boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus.” Just like us in our search for more of Jesus in our lives, they were searching for peace, healing, direction — just like we all are.

Just imagine that we are the lighthouses that others need to help direct and guide them to the Son of God Who points the way to safety, peace, comfort, and best news EVER — eternal life with Him!
Though we didn’t make the climb this time, I know what’s up there – a delightful lighthouse, a beautiful chapel, and breathtaking views. And while I love those sacred places, I’ve come to realize something even more profound: we don’t have to be on a mountaintop to experience the presence of God.
His love isn’t limited by elevation. He meets us wherever we are, even on level ground, with sore knees and a golf cart.

As we pack up to head home today, our hearts are full. Cabo gave us a treasure trove of memories, but the sweetest truth? The presence of God that met us here is the same presence that will greet us at home. No mountain too high, no ocean too wide — His love surrounds us wherever we go.
And so we travel on — carrying His light that breaks through the darkness to our Savior – the greatest LIGHT-Bearer EVER!
