The Name Above All Names
I went back to bed after I posted my blog for the day. I wanted to grab just a few more winks before I started my day. I was restless though. In my head-voice, I started saying “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.” Then I started thinking about what that name means.
I didn’t have to say, “I love You, Jesus!” Or “Thank you, Jesus!” Or “Help me, Jesus!” Just saying His name was my prayer. Jesus, there’s something about that name. Jesus – the mere mention of that name causes demons to tremble. Jesus – the name that is above all other names. The name of Jesus is healing, hope, love, peace, power.
When I’ve been caught off guard as I start to fall or a car is close to hitting my car, or I hear a negative report, that name is so in me that it is the first word I say, “JESUS!”
I started singing that beautiful song: “ I Just Want to Speak the Name of Jesus” by Charity Gayle, featuring Steven Musso. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBIz8vDMG20
I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
Over every heart and every mind
‘Cause I know there is peace within Your presence
I speak Jesus
I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
‘Til every dark addiction starts to break
Declaring there is hope and there is freedom
I speak Jesus
‘Cause Your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life
Break every stronghold
Shine through the shadows
Burn like a fire
I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
Over fear and all anxiety
To every soul held captive by depression
I speak Jesus
Shout Jesus from the mountains
Jesus in the streets
Jesus in the darkness over every enemy
Jesus for my family
I speak the holy name
Jesus
If that name isn’t the first one you declare when fear, worry, sadness, hurt, and anxiety comes knocking at your heart’s door, I urge you to move that holy name, Jesus, to the top of your heart’s cry. JESUS really is the name that is above all other names.
Philippians 2:9-11 says: “Therefore God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, that at the mention of the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of those in heaven, those on earth and those under the earth and that every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father.”
Why is there power in the name of Jesus? His name means “Savior”. Jesus’ name came from heaven by angels and delivered to His parents. He really did what the meaning of His name is — He saved us.
Now we know a name that is above all other names given on earth. There is no situation, no person, no thing that is above the name of Jesus. No name can be compared to the name of Jesus Christ.
I started this blog with saying the name of Jesus as a prayer. JESUS is my prayer today. And it can be yours, too! Whatever we face; whatever we’re feeling; whatever prayer we’re conjuring up to pray — our first option should always be to call upon the name of Jesus – the name above all other names we know.
JESUS – there IS something about that name!
