The Power of Prayer: A Call to Action for Our Nation
Today, May 1st, marks the National Day of Prayer in America — a tradition older than America itself. Even before we had our Declaration of Independence, we had prayer.
Before liberty rang from the mountains, it rose first from the hearts of men and women humbling themselves before God.

This past Monday, Carl and I, and seven other dear friends joined us at our table, along with 800 others, gathered to witness Texas Governor Greg Abbott lead a beautiful Day of Prayer for our nation, state, communities, and leaders. With conviction, he praised the power of prayer, reminding us, “Where two or more are gathered in His name, God is with us.”

Governor Abbott shared how even his greatest trial — living life in a wheelchair — became part of his destiny, opening hearts and doors he never imagined. He challenged us to remember that prayer isn’t our last resort — it’s our first response.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Robert Jeffress, the senior pastor of the 14,000-membr First Baptist Church in Dallas, TX, delivered a clarion call to action: we must be prayer warriors. Not passive, not sporadic — but committed, believing warriors who take God’s promises seriously.
Because prayer changes things. It softens hearts, breaks chains, heals hurts, and ushers in hope. Our politics, our nation’s soul, our fractured communities — they won’t be healed by might or strategy alone, but by the hand of God, moved through the prayers of His people.

God Himself gives us the blueprint in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
“If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Seriously – it’s time to move from simply quoting that verse to living it out loud. With bent knees, broken pride, and bold faith, let’s stand in the gap for our families, our leaders, and this nation we love.
Nothing — absolutely nothing — is impossible with God.
Let’s pray, let’s believe, and let’s expect heaven’s healing hand to move across our land.
